Managing life's challenges isn't something you have to do alone. I am passionate about creating a safe, nonjudgmental, and empathetic space to help you explore the parts of you that need healing and validation. I strive to create a deep relationship that fosters growth and safety during the most challenging walks of life. I believe therapy should be somewhere you can heal attachments and truly be yourself without shame. Creating a healing relationship with yourself can help you manage life’s challenges and live more authentically. I want to help you discover your strengths, build resilience, and strengthen your mental health. My foundation is the therapeutic relationship using techniques from Person-Centered/Relational. My primary theory is Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help treat the parts that need healing. Being flexible and meeting people where they are at is important in successful therapeutic outcomes. Research reveals that effective therapy is less technique and more about a trusting therapeutic relationship. It's important to find a therapist that's a qualified, good fit for you. Contact me today for more info or to schedule an appointment.

Every person deserves a secure, safe space where they can become their most authentic selves. I strive to approach therapy with genuine compassion, warmth, and empathy. I believe that therapy at its core is a creative, non-judgmental space between equals. This creates an environment where you can be yourself and learn to manage the thoughts and emotions getting in your way. I like to incorporate a combination of techniques from Person-Centered, Adlerian, Solution-Focused, Strengths-Based, and Trauma-Focused counseling approaches to fully comprehend your unique experience and how best to help you. Whether you are struggling with trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, or stress related to any number of life circumstances, I'd be happy to help you find hope and make progress toward your goals. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT), I'm able to provide individual counseling to children (3+), adolescents, and adults. We all need help at times. If you're seeking unconditional support and encouragement on your healing journey, I'm here for you. Together, we can work towards a brighter, more fulfilling future.

I have a passion for working with behaviorally challenging kids, their parents, and women. I enjoy the process of sorting through the outward difficult behaviors and discovering the root of their actions. I have worked with troubled teens and tweens for more than 14 years and have discovered that there is always more than meets the eye with these youngsters. The teenaged years and the few preceding years are difficult times not only for the kids, but parents and caretakers. It may seem that nothing helps manage their behaviors and emotions. I can help kids and their parents find solutions to defiant behaviors. I also have experience in working with clients with traumatic experiences. I am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), a treatment that targets specific traumatic memories and helps the brain reprocess them. I am also trained in brain spotting, a therapy that evolved from EMDR used to treat a variety of disorders. If you having difficulty with parenting your teen, struggling to navigate past your trauma, or need space to talk, call me to schedule an appointment.

Life can be messy at times for all of us. We can get lost in the chaos and the changes that happen daily. What I can help you do is embrace the chaos, the messiness and learn to focus on the present day. I would love the opportunity to partner with you as you work through life's challenges and develop a new attitude. Have you ever considered that perhaps, you were created for a time like this? At the core of my therapeutic technique is the strengths' perspective along with person-centered therapy and CBT and DBT skills training. I am genuine and passionate about meeting my clients where they are, and helping them get to where they want to be. Another passion of mine is utilizing horses in the therapeutic process. I am now Eagala certified. "Everyone has a voice and deserves to be heard. People, regardless of where they have been, should be treated with dignity and worthiness, and I feel it's my calling to help them experience this first hand."

I help people work through difficult experiences so that they can live a more full and hopeful life. My approach to therapy is very relational and I believe that through the therapeutic relationship, one can begin to heal old wounds. I am trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), which helps in processing and changing the way one thinks of themselves in the face of traumatic events. I have found that my mixture of attachment-based relational approach and empirically-backed techniques creates an environment of deep healing. I am also receiving training in AEDP (Accelerated-Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) in July. The work that someone would expect to receive is transformational. I believe transformation comes from the ability to experience one’s truth and gaining mastery over your emotions, by no longer masking, distorting, or blocking them. I meet people where they are at. We all have a story and deserve to be heard.

My therapeutic approach views each person as an individual with unique strengths and challenges, and emphasizes the value of building a therapeutic relationship with the individual. When working with a child, I also want to build a relationship with the caregiver. Developing the client and family's strengths will be the foundation to support the change. I believe that the greatest results are achieved using evidence based treatment modalities; these approaches focus on assisting the individual to change negative thoughts & behaviors & focus more on their internal strengths & resourcefulness. My training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Play Therapy. I also work with adults and children with ADHD. Struggles are a part of life, you don't have to do it alone. Some times it takes a person to hear and validate how you are struggling for you to move forward.

Generally, the client and I develop several goals or areas that we want to focus on in therapy. My role is to help my clients develop skills, insights, and understandings that will help them integrate what they learn in therapy into their day-to-day lives. I tend to incorporate techniques that focus on mental frameworks, emotional processing, and behavioral patterns. I believe one of the most challenging things that you can do is to begin to understand your own story. We gather a lifetime of experiences which affect us in different ways. Holding on to past negative experiences prevents further exploration and healing. In a sense we get stuck in patterns of thinking and relating that hold us back from true potential and empowerment of our best assets. I have practiced for 25 years in a variety of settings both inpatient and outpatient. I utilize a variety of approaches to include TF-CBT, DBT, Solution-focused and ecclectic approaches to help you begin where your at and reach the goals you determine to continue a path to living a better life. Life is too short to be affected by poor relationships, letting past trauma or grief control you or to feel anxious, depressed or angry all of the time. My hope is for you to be free of emotional pain, be able to deal with life’s terms and to find meaning and purpose in the important areas of your life. So reach out and take the first step to contact me.
