I have been in the counseling field since 2006, having received my master's in Community Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2005. I practiced for a few years in a variety of settings, including work with a child advocacy center situated in a general counseling agency and in college advisement. In 2009, I returned to school and received my PhD in Counseling in 2015. I taught full-time in Counselor Education from 2016-2022 and have transitioned to running my own fully online practice. I still teach adjunct in play therapy and other coursework for several universities. I am board certified in telemental health and am licensed in both North Carolina and Tennessee. I am also an approved telehealth provider for South Carolina. Finally, I have my Approved Clinical Supervisor, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and National Certified Counselor credentials. I generally come from an integrative perspective, but have completed training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and am a Level II AEDP therapist. This lens allows me to incorporate mindfulness and interpersonal neurobiology, as well as place an emphasis on self-compassion. I have worked with a variety of issues and have practiced as a generalist for most of my career. However, my areas of specialty are supporting parents/caregivers (Child Parent Relationship Therapy), working with children/adolescents, working with folks who have experienced trauma, and working with attachment concerns in relationships. Historically, I've done play therapy, but with practicing only online, I am not doing that right now. I present on, and have expertise in, a variety of advocacy-related topics and consider myself a passionate social justice advocate.
