I have been in the counseling field since 2006, having received my master's in Community Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2005. I practiced for a few years in a variety of settings, including work with a child advocacy center situated in a general counseling agency and in college advisement. In 2009, I returned to school and received my PhD in Counseling in 2015. I taught full-time in Counselor Education from 2016-2022 and have transitioned to running my own fully online practice. I still teach adjunct in play therapy and other coursework for several universities. I am board certified in telemental health and am licensed in both North Carolina and Tennessee. I am also an approved telehealth provider for South Carolina. Finally, I have my Approved Clinical Supervisor, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and National Certified Counselor credentials. I generally come from an integrative perspective, but have completed training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and am a Level II AEDP therapist. This lens allows me to incorporate mindfulness and interpersonal neurobiology, as well as place an emphasis on self-compassion. I have worked with a variety of issues and have practiced as a generalist for most of my career. However, my areas of specialty are supporting parents/caregivers (Child Parent Relationship Therapy), working with children/adolescents, working with folks who have experienced trauma, and working with attachment concerns in relationships. Historically, I've done play therapy, but with practicing only online, I am not doing that right now. I present on, and have expertise in, a variety of advocacy-related topics and consider myself a passionate social justice advocate. I am affirming of all gender and sexual orientation identities, as well as family and relationship structures.

I have worked with patients from a variety of walks of life: 4 years of age to 75 years of age. I walk alongside those that deal with anxiety, ADHD, marital challenges, behavior issues, depression, bi-polar, PTSD, substance use, and trauma for those who desire to make their goals a reality. When you decide to work with me, I come alongside you as we hike your path to healing. As we travel some parts of your trail may be rocky and others filled with beauty and wonder; or times when it’s dark and dreary. My primary goal as a therapist is to help you find the answers to your unique issues. No matter how big or small, I believe that deep down everyone holds the key to their personal power and freedom, but at times need an unbiased and non-judgmental third party to help find those answers to a more fulfilling life. I have worked extensively with individuals and couples who struggle with depression, anxiety, and the emotional and mental upheaval in dealing with mood disorders. Mood disorders do not merely affect the impact the entire family. As a part of addressing issues around mood and anxiety, we will explore how to live in the moment and process tools to cope. In our society finding the time to work on ourselves is a challenge. We must make conscience choices for our lives; so in the spirit of finding peace and solitude give me a chance to help you on your journey.
