It's easy to feel alone with your pain, especially if you don't fit into the neat little boxes that other people expect. Perhaps it's your gender, sexuality or relationship structure (such as consensual non-monogamy) that cause you to feel different. Maybe you're a professional trying to juggle everything and feeling like you're failing on all fronts. Whether as an individual or as part of a relationship, you may need information, emotional support, insight, communication and/or coping skills, and/or just a safe, affirming place to gain some clarity and move forward. I offer teletherapy to clients all over Texas who are seeking individual or relationship therapy. I specialize in gender, sexuality, and non-traditional relationship structures such as consensual non-monogamy, but I also see clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, and the impact of trauma. Everybody struggles, even the people who look like they have it all together on the outside. I'd like to help if I can. Contact me to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation.

You may have difficulty completing day to day tasks. Sleep which used come easy is now something you dread. You've noticed the smallest thing sets you off. In some cases, these changes just happen. My name is Mike Gibbs and I've been doing therapy for almost 5 years now. I'm a 42 year old African American Male and I really enjoy doing therapy. To me, there is not a greater gift than being able to help someone improve their quality of life and helping others is what drives me. I have a strong passion and desire to help others and this passion and desire is what ultimately led me to the therapy profession. My therapeutic background consists of working with clients who have had issues with anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship issues, substance abuse, and conflict resolution. I'm currently doing therapy for a non-profit organization in Austin Texas and I have seen individuals with a variety of concerns which include the issues listed above and I've also worked with clients who have other issues and concerns as well. I'm a firm believer that therapy is a collaborative process and a journey that both the therapist and the client take together. In my opinion, the client is the expert on themselves and as the therapist I serve as a guide to help them navigate the best path forward that they want for themselves.

Imagine a house is on fire, but the fire is only in one bedroom. What would you do? I think most people would call for help to extinguish the fire before it spreads. Now, imagine the house is you and the fire is whatever you're facing: depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, low self-esteem, big life changes. Do you tell yourself "it's not that bad" or "people have it worse than me"? I want you to know that you don't have to wait till that fire spreads to all the other rooms. You don't have to wait to get help. What you are walking through and what you're feeling is valid. You deserve to feel whole. I am a compassionate EMDR trained therapist who works primarily with older teens, college students, and adults. I utilize a trauma-informed framework with my clients, while also pulling from different treatment modalities: CBT, DBT, Kristen Neff's self-compassion work, and ACT. When I am not in the office, you might find me eating Mexican food with my husband, walking our dogs along the Trinity River, or reading a good book! I would be honored if you were to trust me to be a part of your healing journey. Please reach out to me via phone or email. I look forward to chatting with you soon!
