Have you ever felt like you are not good enough? Or felt like you have to be perfect to be loved and accepted? It is my belief that healing happens is safe spaces. In therapy I put an emphasis on person-centered therapy while also incorporating modalities such as emotion focused therapy and internal family systems. My approach is rooted in the belief that human beings are hard-wired for connection. What can be difficult about connecting with people is allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to be seen in all of life’s messiness. By letting your walls down, you can work towards authentic connection. I aim to cultivate a place of safety and compassion for you to be curious and explore the walls that might have been built and slowly allow your most authentic self to be seen, accepted, and celebrated. I would be honored to work alongside you as you work towards authentic connection and healing.

I know that coming to therapy can be scary, especially for the first time. Change can be scary. But the truth is that we could all use extra help and support sometimes. As a clinician, I work hard to build a safe and comfortable space for people to show up as they are—to give them room to be whoever they need to be. I believe that through this type of environment, people are better able to grow and heal. I have experience working children and youth—including those experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, suicidality, self-harm, family conflict, trauma, loss, LGBTQ+, and more. I also work with adults facing similar issues as well as faith/life transitions, mood disorders, or who just need someone to talk to. I have lived in Utah for the majority of my life and have a strong understanding of the culture and community. I chose this profession because I have personal experience with being on the other side of things. I have witnessed the power of change and in doing the hard work first hand.

After telling yourself things will get better and filling up your google search history with "therapists near me" you've decided to make a change. The very fact you're here is an act of bravery and a statement to yourself that things are going to be different. If you're looking to jumpstart motivation, rework maladaptive coping strategies, and/or process past traumas you have come to the right place. I mainly employ cognitive behavioral (CBT) as well as acceptance and commitment (ACT) based interventions to help manage and alleviate the stressors of life. Therapy is about shifting perspectives to find greater harmony. Together, we'll gently challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviors- weaving in new patterns that resonate with your goals and values. Whether you're a teen dealing with the ebbs and flows of adolescence, a young adult seeking direction and purpose, or an adult navigating the complexities of relationships and life transitions, my aim is to provide a safe and empathetic space where you can explore, heal, and flourish.

No one seeks counseling just to seek counseling. People seek counseling to bring about change. At Family Transitions Counseling we don't just provide counseling. We provide tools for helping you to change: changing perspective; changing behaviors; changing how you think; changing your life. I work hard to empower clients who have trusted me with their care to find solutions to their problems by building their own strengths and by focusing on new ways to behave and think. We move forward towards an improved life rather than dwelling on problems and the past. I specialized in family therapy at the top school of social work in the country. I have developed several pragmatic models using empirically sound theories to help individuals with pornography addiction, depression or anxiety, marital distress, and more, to rise above the problem they are focusing way too much on and focus instead on healthy behaviors. If you are reading this, then you are actively seeking help for very real pain you are experiencing. I became a therapist because I wanted to help. Reach out today to our office and let us help you make the changes in your life that will lead to much happier living and much more peace. I look forward to talking with you.
