My passion as a therapist is to help clients cultivate self-compassion and autonomy to face life’s challenges. I strive to make therapy a place where clients feel safe and empowered to make positive changes. I use elements of Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and person-centered therapy to meet various needs and employ techniques that will work for each unique client. I believe all clients deserve kindness, empathy, and unconditional positive regard and that these elements of therapy have a powerful impact on each client’s ability to grow. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, faith transitions, attachment issues, trauma, and more. I am passionate about working with teenagers and adults across the lifespan. Have you ever said to yourself, "I know I need to do this for myself....., But, I can't". Then them we come up with reasons why; "it is too scary", "I am not competent enough", "I am too tired", "it is too difficult", or maybe even, "I just don't care". We have these internal conflicts that appear in our lives almost daily, If we don't resolve these internal conflicts as they arise they become bigger and more impactful in our day to day functioning, and we can get to a point where we feel "stuck" or trapped in our own lives. We can even get so stuck we start avoiding basic human needs. View 8 Photos Let's get unstuck! My focus with clients is to focus on how to 1) Stop Hiding! , and Start Living! 2) Build inner-strength and Self-belief 3) Overcome life's challenges with honor and integrity. I primarily use Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy approaches in my interactions with clients. I have had many life experiences where I have felt completely "stuck" and defeated. I was ready to give up. I am grateful for those who have reached out their hands and hearts to me over the years and helped me to get "unstuck". Life is difficult. We can not do it alone. Empowering yourself is done by sharing your stories with others and asking for help.

Whether you are seeking small changes or searching for big miracles, I have witnessed clients (couples, individuals, adolescents and families) at varying stages of hope be able to improve the quality of their connections and relationships that we all want and need. I utilize a client centered, personalized approach utilizing several different modalities (from CBT, EFT, Solution-Focused, Narrative, Experiential and Gottman Method) to create a safe place for clients to explore their thoughts, beliefs and feelings as they work towards their goals. I feel that it is imperative for clients to feel seen, heard and understood. I specialize in helping clients to recognize patterns and stumbling blocks which can prevent connection and leave you feeling stuck. I assist clients to gain greater insight and develop tools and skills to allow for improved communication and connection. Reaching out and seeking a therapist to help you to achieve your goals can be a daunting and overwhelming decision but I fully believe that “what you do today can improve all of your tomorrows” (Ralph Marston).

I am currently seeing clients virtually from a couple of states! I have been working in the mental health field since 2006. I was employed with the Huntsman Mental Institute Health Crisis Services and worked as a mobile crisis outreach worker and on the crisis line and text line, but I now work at Reach Counseling. I have experience and special interest in working with trauma but also work with various other mental health conditions as well as addiction therapy. I have a great knowledge in crisis, trauma, and addictions. I take a very client centered approach and work with each client on how to create self empowerment through the trials they have faced. I am very nonjudgmental and I encourage client's to find hope they may have lost along the way. I see clients from all over through my virtual platform! Life can be so hard, but there is always hope! It's so important to recognize this and work towards having a life that you enjoy.

I use a holistic person-centered approach and believe each individual has the ability to find the answers within. I view therapy as a place to explore the different parts of self that contribute to the whole of a person. I love helping others find the places within that feel blocked or stuck and help them address what is needed to help clients move forward with renewed hope. I believe as one begins the healing journey they will become more in tune with mind, body, spirit connection and can tap into their unique strengths to create a life with meaning and happiness. I use a variety of treatment modalities including ACT therapy, CBT, DBT and trauma informed therapy. I also specialize in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy. EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables individuals to heal from the symptoms of emotional distress from trauma or difficult life experiences. I love to help people find tools to create a life that feels good on the inside. I am an advocate for breaking mental health stigmas. I believe in what I do and I hold space for each individual who comes to work with me. All clients are received with dignity, respect, and kindness.

You may find yourself in a state of overwhelm that amps you up or shuts you down. It's quite possible you armor up on the outside while feeling messy on the inside. If only others knew how dreadfully stuck, confused, and exhausted you feel. Part of you wants to let others “in”, yet it is hard to trust. You don't want to appear weak or be a burden. Multiple stressors may be weighing heavy on you. Genuine connection and support feels unreachable. Knowing that we can trust and be surrounded with support are fundamental human needs. Without an internal sense of safety and without stable healthy relationships, we feel off-centered and retract from life. We want to feel contentment, to open up, and to connect. And when stress happens, we want skills to move through it and show up fully as ourselves. As a trauma-specialty counselor, I offer a safe haven for clients to find relief, build connection, and cultivate health. Clients who work with me appreciate my first-hand experience of trauma's impact and of post-traumatic healing. I help clients process the pain so they can begin functioning and living out their best life. Reach out today!
