I weave together elements of positive psychology, strength-based counseling, Buddhist psychology, and yoga therapy (when appropriate) to help people deepen their awareness of how they want to grow or heal. For some that may be gaining clarity and taking action for growth or healing. For others it may be navigating a new phase of life, either one they initiated or not. And for some, it may be finding inner guidance and practicing strategies to manage a difficult situation. These are just a few examples of individuals who have found working with me supportive. For more details visit: www.abeautifuljourneycoaching.com I meet each person where they are and help them gain clarity about how counseling or coaching can support them and identify what they want to move toward. I do not work within a clinical or medical model framework. Each person is capable of the growth or healing they desire. I help them discover how to do that. I do not use diagnoses in my practice. I do not work from a clinical/medical model and therefore do not accept insurance. I have a tiered fee scale of $70, $90, and $110/hour with a limited number of spaces at $40/hour for individuals experiencing a significant financial challenge. Contact me for a free consultation (30 minutes) so we can explore the possibility of working together.

Adoptees are often a silent population due to challenges surrounding the issue of trust. Needs for this population may include difficulties connecting with others, difficulty with self esteem & making decisions to appease others rather than for themselves. Goals are often directly linked to these issues. How do I know? I have both lived experiences as a former foster child & adoptee who then used those experiences to launch me into the field of psychotherapy where I accrued over 20 years of experience. Learning to trust & knowing who we are as adoptees is an important part of the healing work we will do together. I offer individual, family & couples Adoptee Counseling sessions to adoptees & their adoptive families who are ready to begin addressing the needs which often accompany the role of being an adoptee. Acceptance, connection & trust are some of the issues which we can explore together in our online confidential sessions. I understand how challenging it can be for adoptees to reach out to others as a result of trust issues & the ability to acknowledge their own emotional needs. If you're an adoptee or an adoptive family member, are over the age of 16 and ready to begin this important work of self care & self identity, I'm here to walk along side you on your journey.

I believe a lack of self-love perpetuates a lack of care about the world, I believe our Inner World - how we experience healing and how we live in joy - is very important in the mission to make the world a better place. I am a coach in Conscious Human Evolution and guide you through various tools and techniques to re-Love yourself, re-Connect with joy and passion in life. I cannot heal you - but I will offer you tools and support and guidance as you are taking the steps to heal yourself. I find that NVC (Nonviolent Communication) improves the quality of life immensely, in relationships both with the world and with ourselves. I guide the healing process with a self-empowering unconditionally-loving philosophy, and use IFS (Internal Family Systems), Harmonizing and other tools to support your learning and healing. When our wounds & no-longer-serving-us patterns show up – rather than suppress them, we bring awareness to them and support their transformation. We use IFS, guided meditations, Inner Child connecting, Consciousness Coaching, Joy Coaching to support you while you stay with them and un-learn to judge them – and learn to love and accept them & yourself.

So many of us are acutely aware of the troubles and difficulties we are facing locally and globally. Perhaps you are engaging in the work to bring significant change to your community or even to the larger world, whether socially, ecological, economic or any or all of the above. My work is to help you with the struggles we face as activists, concerned citizens and agents of change & how to "stay with the trouble" of being human in exceedingly difficult times. This is about harnessing the deep wisdom you already possess about who you are and what you need to bring your special and unique "medicine" to the healing to our world. I specialize in working with our growing despair/fear around climate change, racism and social inequality & the fragmented relationship to ourselves and to the more-than-human world. I draw on a range of approaches - ecopsychology, parts work, body-centered, spiritual & mindfulness. I belong to fast the growing Climate Psychology Alliance of North America. I love to help bring inspiration & a path forward to activists and those struggling with the current state of our world. Let's do this together. I have 35 years guiding people through my work as an entrepreneur, educator, meditation teacher, social & ecological activist and mentor. I am presently working mostly online with limited availability.

Do you find yourself wishing for more harmony and balance in your life? You have the capacity to heal through building a deep authentic relationship with your inner system. Through experiences of trauma and social conditioning we develop protective parts that are working to keep us safe. Although these parts may have once served an important purpose, eventually their roles in our system are no longer beneficial. We may feel stuck, detached from our emotions, or confused about who we authentically are. Exploring these parts with curiosity and compassion allows us to discover and achieve profound healing. My integrative, trauma-informed, holistic approach, combines Internal Family Systems, Somatic Therapy, Body-centered psychotherapy, spiritual energy healing, and Mindfulness. We engage in a collaborative relationship with the goal of moving you into a more harmonic and balanced state. Believe it or not, you already hold the answers you seek. My role is to help guide you towards the place you desire to be. A place of inner peace, clarity, self-compassion, confidence, healthier relationships, and more balance in all aspects of your life. A place in which you have a deeper level of awareness, presence with yourself and others, and a place where you truly feel that your life has meaning and purpose.

My primary client base consists of adolescents, young adults, families, and parents. I less frequently work directly with younger children. I find this work is best done as either parent-child work or parent support and training. For teens and young adults, I focus primarily on working with clients to develop strategies to manage the life events that they identify as interfering with important aspects of daily life. I use a strength and goal-based cognitive-behavioral framework to help develop concrete skills while providing a supportive and collaborative relationship with clients and families. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst providing services in the community for the past 20 years. Over the years I have provided outpatient and crisis services, supervised numerous other therapists, and provided consultation to schools and families. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you are looking for support. I am happy to help individuals find the best fit. I am always happy to have a brief consult conversation to help assess fit.

I offer concrete, effective strategies to parents, children, & adolescents to address a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental concerns. My clients leave every session with a specific plan for exactly what to do to build skills or reduce problem behaviors, and improvement is usually quick to see. Children who benefit from my services exhibit a very broad range of challenges, including ADHD-related impulsivity and hyperactivity, aggression, oppositionality, "attitude", anxiety, ASD-related social skills deficits and challenges, enuresis, encopresis, and sleeping issues - just to name a few. My approach is very behavioral, which means that sessions are focused on solutions. With a doctorate in clinical psychology, 15+ years experience as a school psychologist, and training as a behavior analyst, I have the expertise to maximize efficient use of your time and money to find solutions for your child or adolescent. When appropriate, I will teach your child the skills that he or she needs to replace old problem-behaviors and manage difficult emotions. I can also show you, as the parent, how to use positive reinforcement strategies to support those skills in your child. Application of these strategies usually results in lasting behavior change for a happy family life.
