I work with men and women who are struggling with symptoms of depression and/ or anxiety, issues of grief and loss, compulsive eating, relationship/family and family-of-origin issues, as well as life-phase-transition issues. I am particularly attuned to how early life attachment relationships impact clients' interpersonal functioning as adults. Other special interest areas include working with clients with adrenal fatigue, individuals/ couples struggling with issues as related to fertility challenges and working with/ diagnosing clients with ADHD. I am qualified and licensed to conduct ADD/ADHD assessments and to assign a diagnosis accordingly. I have ten years of experience leading Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills groups. I use DBT to help clients improve their ability to regulate their emotions so as to better manage symptoms of depression, anxiety and general mood volatility. CBT and Mindfulness skills are other therapeutic modalities I regularly use. I have a great deal of interest in the information that is coming out of the "neuroscience revolution" that is underway. I use this information to help clients understand what THEY can do to develop new neural pathways that will help them think and act in new and healthier ways.

Mark Adams, MA, LMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor practicing in Poulsbo, Washington. He has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in various community mental health settings since 1994. Mark has extensive experience working with issues of domestic disputes and high conflict. He has worked with adults to repair the damage and undo legacies of harmful behavior. Within the context of that work, Mark developed and co-facilitated a unique group for men dealing with issues of both abusive behavior and substance abuse. Mark developed and implemented a specialized group for fathers that addressed the impact of adult domestic violence on children, as well as worked with survivors of violence to address trauma and to help them reclaim both autonomy and agency. At the Poulsbo office, Mark's primary approach is to provide a cognitive-behavioral foundation. From that foundation, Mark incorporates mindfulness-based interventions, self-compassion work, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – to fit the needs of each client. Mark is accepting new clients at the Bainbridge office. Please fill out contact form on website to schedule first-time appointment.

Whether it’s problems with work, home life, a relationship, chronic illness or a specific event like a major transition, accident, or sudden death, I can help by providing a safe place for you to open up and feel heard. From a biopsychosocial-spiritual lens, I treat you as a whole person, addressing many areas of your life such as thoughts and feelings, emotions, social interactions, beliefs, and physical issues. More relational than clinical, we work together to identify how current circumstances and past events limit how you are able to find joy and purpose in your life. I encourage you to take the next step in regaining the life you deserve and make an investment in yourself. We will work together through a safe and simple telehealth video platform, providing a real personal connection in the comfort of your home.
