I am a social worker who specializes in couples and sexual-related issues. I do a lot of work with couples around infidelity, trust and sexual issues. I spend much time helping couples overcome the aftermath of affairs and help lead them to a better relationship than they previously had. I also work with individuals with problems like depression, anxiety and loss. I do my sessions exclusively by video and phone and have done teletherapy for about five years. My style is very casual and thoughtful. And I have become very adept at doing teletherapy. I find that most of my clients prefer this format. In couples work, I teach that communication is different for men and women. I help couples and individuals with sexual issues like lack of desire, performance anxiety, dysfunction, coming out issues and relationship types (consensual nonmonogamy and monogamy) and navigating these. I am looking forward to hearing from you. I know that sexual and relationship issues can be difficult to discuss, but with my style I think you'll feel quite comfortable talking with me. You will find reaching out for the initial conversation with me that I am not judgemental in the least and that you will feel at ease speaking with me.

*** CURRENTLY NOT TAKING NEW CLIENTS *** Therapy offers the opportunity to make lasting positive changes in life and in relationships. By exploring the role the past has played in current difficulties and dissolving old, destructive patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving, life can be more balanced and joyful. I offer warmth, compassion, support, and insight to my clients, with an approach that is direct, non-judgmental, and tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual. Oriented toward building on natural strengths and empowering meaningful changes, our work together can foster an increased ability to more adaptively attend to the ever-changing flow of life. Together, we will work toward identifying destructive behavioral patterns and replace them with empathy for ourselves and those around us. Learning the art of non-judgmental awareness - mindfulness - we will explore these themes, connecting more intimately with the memories, emotions, thoughts, and sensations fundamentally associated with them. By exploring unmet childhood and current attachment needs, we learn to conquer self-defeating habits and discover a new way of approaching our thoughts, emotions, and personal behavior. Empowering ourselves to get our basic needs met in this way, we move toward creating greater balance, harmony, and joy in our lives.

The client-therapist rapport is a potent common factor in therapy success. You want to feel comfortable opening up and sharing your truths. Have you found yourself struggling with a change in your life that has left you feeling uncomfortable with your current emotional state. I offer a place to clear your head, organize your thoughts, and express your feelings without judgement. Give yourself permission to pause, process and then progress. I take pride in helping clients who may be struggling to find balance, purpose and a sense of normalcy again. I enjoy working with clients who are struggling with relationship issues, self -esteem, sexual orientation, acculturating, "adulting", or who find themselves in transition. For many of us asking for help can be daunting; especially if we are the ones that everyone else comes to for help. I want you to know that it's okay for you to need help too. It doesn't make you less of a leader, friend, mother, father, wife, son or daughter; It makes you human. I invite you to make yourself a priority and take care of you.

I have been working with grief, both normal and complicated, for over 30 years and have specialized training in treating both. For those who are going through a normal albeit difficult time coping with the loss of a loved one, or if you are a caregiver for someone with a stressful illness (e.g., cancer, Alzheimer's), help is here. I also have extensive experience in treating the needs of the LGBTQ community and the issues typical for these clients. I strongly prefer to meet clients in person due to the type of interventions I utilize that are more effective this way. However, I do have limited availability for TeleHealth. View 3 Photos Grief is not only a reaction to death of a loved one. It can also mask itself within the loss of independence due to health and/or mental health challenges, or the changing of one's identity. While painful, grief and can also lead to positive change and newfound strength once you walk through it and can feel what's on the other side. Therapy is a serious commitment that is not to be entered into lightly. If you are ready to "do the work", I am ready to help. It's especially important that you take this step for yourself, not just because others may have suggested you do so. If you feel ready to tolerate the ups and downs that good therapy provides, the hard work is truly worth it.

Our relationship to ourselves, others and the world are all intimately connected. Few of us walk through life without significant challenges that require us to grow, heal and change. As a therapist my purpose is to create a trusting respectful relationship with clients, whether dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, loss, or relationship issues. My approach is tailored to meet the needs of each client's unique situation, using traditional and alternative interventions and may be either short or long term. Of particular interest to me is working with couples through counseling and powerful group workshop models. I have considerable training and experience in working with couples, individually and in couples' workshops. My 25 year practice as a physical therapist and study of body based therapies also informs my practice. I am a trained Enneagram teacher and presenter and use the excellent map of the Enneagram when appropriate. It is sometimes hard to reach out for help. The truth, we all need it in many ways; it's part of our being human, as is the reality of life's challenges. I offer a safe place for you to explore whatever it is you may be struggling with.

Unexpected, sometimes traumatic life events happens to us all. The good news is we are made to heal. My work with clients offers an expert guide and partner on your healing journey. Together we can help you establish a life of balance and peace. While other interventions offer coping skills, the work we do together offers healing and restoration. When you are ready to begin your journey, please let me know and we can begin our work together in an atmosphere of acceptance and care. My work is trauma informed, which could sound narrow, however in many years of practice it has been my observation that most mental health challenges are rooted in some type of traumatic experience yet unresolved. I partner with my clients to discover the roots of their presenting problems with the goal of healing in mind. I welcome individuals of all faiths and belief systems and am open to incorporating your personal values/beliefs into our work as you find it supportive in your own healing process.

(As a couple or individual) - Experiencing a traumatic event, anxiety/ past pain can send you into a panic, tearful, angry, shut down. Feeling disconnected from yourself or from your partner. Feeling lonely and ignored. You’re looking for an emotional connection to your partner, heal after pain you endured together, to feel loved. Or individually you would like to move past the painful event(s)/trauma you have endured, learn to love yourself & remove the fear that weighs you down, to feel free from anxiety. Either in couples therapy or individual therapy, I can help. I view my role as a therapist as being part of a team with you for success. I believe we all have the power within ourselves for change; I just have the privilege to help ignite that power to bring change with you, together.
