I believe that in therapy, the focus should first be on learning to gain acceptance of ourselves. I feel that our beliefs about ourselves are paramount because they shape the beliefs that we have about other people and in turn, the rest of our environment. After we identify the beliefs about ourselves that need to be adjusted, we can work on how to improve those beliefs, which will improve our interactions with others and the way that we see the world. I look forward to helping others with that process. View 5 Photos Another focal point of therapy is to examine the way that we develop our identities based on our perceptions of where we come from and what we have been through in life. Everyone has the opportunity to improve their sense of self by improving how they develop their respective identity. I am a real down to Earth person and my motto is that you should always entertain the possibility that you might be wrong - which I also practice daily. Although it isn't something that comes naturally to most, its something that, once you practice, can change your relationships and your life for the better.

I support the overworked professional struggling with stress management, burnout, imposter syndrome, or the search of their true passions. Or an individual experiencing relationship challenges, including communication style differences, expectations for the future, or looking for love. I am also well-suited to support family of origin or coming of age challenges, as well as anxiety and depression. I provide my clients with warm, competent, and nonjudgmental support. I ask thoughtful questions and take the client on a journey of deepened self-discovery so that they can uncover solutions and insights uniquely right for them. I am a strength-finder, pattern recognizer, and enjoy offering 'food for thought' for contemplation between sessions. Please reach out for a consultation call to see if we'd be a good fit! Making the decision to look on this website for a therapist is a big step. I respect and value your commitment to yourself. It can be hard to do something good for yourself, to take up space instead of always giving it away. I work with clients who are working on increasing their self-esteem, who are interested in exploring their identity, values, and needs. I work with clients who have been impacted by that pestering anxiety, depression, or eating disorder voice! I know it's really tough to be louder than that voice! I work with kids, teens, and adults who are figuring out how to cope with ADHD or other learning differences! I offer a variety of creative, and unique therapeutic techniques to help you reach your goals, or even figure them out in the first place! I incorporate art (drawing, music, painting, sculpting), as well as books and games into our space. I work through the lens of CBT and DBT to identify cognitive distortions and highlight strengths. If you are looking for therapy for yourself, your child, or a loved one because you just need a little more support in your life, I applaud you for that. Please give me a call so you can tell me what your needs are and I can be your fellow traveler on your journey, wherever you want it to lead.

Life presents many circumstances that can be difficult for any person to navigate on their own. We aren’t born with the emotional regulation skills or coping skills needed to deal with the complexities of this fast-paced, high-pressure society. Some days we may be consumed with negative thoughts that hinder us from being who we want to be. Some days we are flooded with big emotions that are hard to control and seem to overpower us. Some days we experience worries that seem so big that it's hard for us to function. View 5 Photos I offer a safe, therapeutic space for children, adolescents, and young adults to get in touch with their inner self and develop tools to help them through life’s challenges. For parents, I offer support and resources. For clients looking for neurological causes for their symptoms and for services to optimize their brain, I offer EEG-guided neurofeedback. Meeting with a new therapist can feel intimidating and scary. A trusting relationship built with a therapist is critical for therapeutic success. I aim to be that confidant in your life who you can trust and feel comfortable talking to.

My name is Allen and I want to thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, or feeling connected to others I would like to help. Many of my clients come to me because they no longer want to feel the way they do and simply want to feel better, have less anxiety, and to be confident to live the life they want. Some seek me out to utilize EMDR as a way to overcome their struggles. No matter what you may be struggling with, A2Z is here to help you through those struggles. Give me a call and leaving a voicemail will ensure a return call, as I may be with another client. View 6 Photos I practice from a person-centered framework and believe in the benefits of traditional talk therapy. I also provide a therapy modality called EMDR; EMDR allows a person to live in the present by working through problems of the past which influence them presently. EMDR is proven to significantly decrease symptoms associated with many mental health concerns. I want to help you live the life you want and to help you find the freedom to do so. As your counselor it is not my job to force you to do anything; but rather to support, encourage, and help you overcome your struggles. Check out my website for more information or give me a call for a free 15-minute consultation to talk about what would be best for you.

Your willingness to seek help is a courageous step towards healing & change. I believe in the transformative power of a therapeutic relationship and view it as our combined effort. I use LGBTQIA+ affirming, social justice-oriented, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches to foster a safe, consistent and curious environment that supports your wisdom while guiding your pursuit of valued and meaningful living. Our partnership will include my extensive education & advanced training working with individuals who have been adversely impacted by relational and attachment disruptions, abuse/neglect and complex traumatic experiences. We will explore ways in which your painful experiences and unresolved feelings discourage you from creating the fulfilling life you desire. We will enhance your ability to be present with your thoughts and feelings to increase your understanding of how these internal events keep you stuck in habitual behaviors and responses that might no longer serve you. While I draw from a number of modalities, including attachment, neuroscience, existential-humanistic, psychodynamic, and solution-focused, I focus on mindfulness and acceptance-informed therapy, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This is an evidence based approach to the problem of suffering, and the pursuit of values and meaningful life.

You are the expert on your experience, I simply serve as a guide to the process. - Therapy is a partnership between you and me, (and my corgi Bennett who may make an appearance now and then - don’t worry, he’s bound by HIPAA too). - I am honored to be in a position where I am able to support my community. The community served include those struggling with a variety of relationship, intimacy, and sexual issues. I also work well with those who are navigating cultural transitions, such as self-identity / exploration, marriage, blended families, immigrants, and refugees. Navigating various domains of life is tough and you are not alone. If you have felt marginalized due to your sexual orientation, age, race, ethnicity, physical ability, or religion, it causes elevated feelings of anxiety, regret, and shame, that impact your day-to-day life and interpersonal relationships. - As a counselor, I employ a sex positive, goal oriented, directive, and integrative theoretical model with my clients. I believe in fostering a healthy environment within the therapeutic space by building trust and mutual respect with you. You should feel comfortable speaking about your thoughts and feelings free from any judgement. By creating such an environment, my goal is that you feel empowered in your exploration toward improving your overall mental health.
