My ideal client is someone ready to go beyond just talking about problems, and instead, dive deep within themselves to heal. In my 12 years of clinical practice, I have observed that true and lasting healing must involve the mind. body, and soul. As a Yoga Therapy Teacher-in-Training, I believe that somatic work is crucial to deeper healing. I also emphasize the importance of meditation, mindfulness, and spirituality. In my office or virtually, I offer a safe space, an empathic heart, and a variety of brain-based, trauma-centered modalities. View 10 Photos EMDR and Brain Spotting are my two favorite modalities, and both can be done virtually. I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and Consultant in Training (CIT). I am a Certified Brainspotting Therapist and working toward a specialized track in BSP and spirituality . Check out www.EMDRIA.org and www.Brainspotting.com for more info. I believe that in order to heal, people need to feel safe and supported. My healing style focuses on finding your internal strength, shedding old negative beliefs about yourself that no longer serve you. I bring creativity, flexibility, and positive empowering energy to all of my sessions and tailor the treatment to what will most benefit you.

I am not currently accepting new clients and do not anticipate openings until May 2024. Adults I work with are interested in setting boundaries, overcoming negative thought patterns, processing a loss, enhancing personal relationships and learning how to live intentionally rather than just checking boxes. Knowing that we need help can be hard, asking for help can be even harder. Whether we meet in person or virtually, you will feel comfortable to be able to unpack and process the things that are hard and may even be holding you back from living the life you want to live. When you decide on a therapist you want to work with, I recommend scheduling a consultation to ensure it is a great fit for what you are looking for. I offer up to a 30-minute (free) consultation to help determine if I can help you meet your therapy goals. Please go to my website for additional information www.CarlaHuff.com

The teenage years can be really tough on teens AND their parents. Changes happen that can throw their emotions on a rollercoaster -- sadness, worry or anger can take over. Friends can push a teen toward dangerous choices. Add on the stress of high school, early romantic relationships, working towards independence, and there are all sorts of places that a teenager can struggle. It takes a special sort of counselor to work with a teen. Someone who is serious and kind when they struggle, but keeps a sense of humor, wonder and joy that can connect with them past those struggles. Teenagers are learning to be adults. That presents a huge opportunity if we embrace it. Teenagers are more open to new ideas than many people realize. With the right guidance, they can enter adulthood with an amazing amount strength and understanding. I love helping teens and seeing that change. Your child and your family are worth it. Call me for a free phone consultation. I will talk with you about your struggle and how I can help. If your teen is struggling, don't wait and see if they find a way out. Let me help guide them.

NOT accepting new clients. I am excited to welcome more convenience to mental healthcare via telehealth. Telehealth is probably easier, cheaper, and more effective than you may think. I know anxiety, anger, and hopelessness can be paralyzing. They can control your mind and dominate your days, straining your health and relationships. With compassion and a bit of humor, I can help you find peace in your heart and the courage to expect more from yourself and others. I specialize and have had a lot of success in helping people that suffer from anxiety, depression and trauma or loss. Both cognitive-behavioral and cognitive-processing therapies are short term, evidence-based intervention approaches that I use and find highly effective. You don't have to face this alone. We can find long-term wellness together. I truly enjoy my work and especially love working with couples. Eight sessions can make a big difference in feeling more connected to your partner. I believe there are two truths in a relationship and I respect and honor both.

I have been trained in many approaches to therapy and I believe that it is my role to work collaboratively with my clients to find the approach that works best for them. I believe that healing takes place in the context of the relationship between therapist and client and that an important part of the work is developing a connection where one feels truly seen and heard. I also believe in helping my clients get in touch with deeper levels of awareness of their bodies/emotions and helping them to incorporate mindfulness practices into their lives. I specialize in working with issues of sexuality, relationships, and gender. I enjoy work with adolescents, adults, and couples. In addition to therapy, I do assessments for hormones/surgery for transgender clients. Usually I require 2-3 sessions before completing my assessment.

Have you ever struggled to find the words to describe how you are feeling? Or, wished to express yourself beyond just talking in therapy? When words can't express it, art can! Whether you consider yourself an artist or not (and you don't have to be one to do art), visual expression and the creative process can help. Jung said, "often the hands will solve a mystery the intellect has struggled with in vain." Art offers you the opportunity to explore and work through what is challenging you a little differently than solely talking about it. View 5 Photos I offer a holistic, strengths based, person centered, experiential style of therapy. This includes art. Art becomes a way of knowing, expressing, considering, and exploring within the session. But, this also definitely includes talking. We use art and words to gain perspective and insight on how to help you feel better. To learn more about my practice, please visit my website. Reaching out for support, is an important first step toward change, healing, and growth. Whatever your challenge, you don't have to face it alone. I would like to help you feel better and create the change you wish to see in your life. I look forward to speaking with you!

Are you struggling to show up in the present? Do you ever feel 'haunted' by past experiences that foreclose your way toward the future you want? I have met such roadblocks myself and believe that building a healthy interpersonal relationship in therapy paves the road to unlocking your goals & desires. I have specialties working with queer women & femmes in addressing anxiety, t/Trauma processing & recovery, sexual assault, and identity exploration. Gestalt therapy is oriented around building awareness: of ourselves, of our thoughts & behaviors, of our choices, and of our physical systems that are constantly sending us invaluable data about our experiences. I believe that for each of us to increase this awareness brings us more fully into the present, and only in the present do we have agency to change. Therapy is a dialogue. Together we can build the skills & practices you need to take authority over your life, including increased confidence & self-esteem, maintaining healthy interpersonal boundaries, and building new neural pathways that concretize the change you want to see & be. What are you noticing about your life? How you answer that question will determine where you're headed and whether or not it's where you want to be. It's not for me to say what that is, or even if it's right or wrong. That's up to you. Equine assisted psychotherapy is one of the most unique, effective and natural processes you will find to experience yourself and how you impact the world around you. It's life changing and is a powerful way to gain new insight to you. What you do with that insight can be a bigger challenge so there's more to the story. I will help you discover a new way of looking at yourself through the horses. The work is ground based and begins with connection. I am trained in Equilateral: an equine assisted EMDR protocol that is highly effective in treating complex trauma and PTSD. I'm a certified EAGALA practitioner, military designated provider serving veterans and first responders. I believe that healthy personal relationships are the key to well being. Complicated by life events there is no straight path to wellness and no two of us are alike. I invite you to contact me to discuss our equine-assisted therapeutic program and imagine what it can do for you. The first healthy relationship you need to establish is the one with yourself.

Truth is essential to our mental integrity. Full access to the "truths" embedded in our personal stories and the emotions, beliefs and healthy impulses they engender make us "whole". They form the basis of our identity, resilience, self-worth; our very well being. The problem: our "truths" sometimes appear overwhelmingly painful, disheartening and/or terrifying, particularly if safe/trustworthy people haven't been available to help. In order to cope, real feelings are buried, "looking good" facades created and the past (consciously) ignored. Unfortunately, dissociating these truths creates a life that lacks choice and is instead stubbornly ruled by the past. Years of training in psychodrama, EMDR and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy have taught me that simply "talking" about problems is an inefficient way to promote change. In my work, I will accompany you through the process of regaining access to your innate strengths and resources. Together, we can come to terms with avoided emotions, thoughts, and memories that have kept you stuck, transforming anger to assertiveness, fear to self protection, grief to acceptance and apathy to passion. With the missing pieces back in place, your focus in life can move from surviving to thriving.

I enjoy helping clients become more fully aware of themselves and of the patterns that hold them back in life, and working with them to feel more grounded and connected with themselves and with others. Many are women or non-binary individuals, and are longing to feel more at home in their own skin and more confident in their own strength, beauty, and wisdom. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Clinical Psychology and graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. My therapy approach is taken from an attachment theory and perspective. I believe humans are wired to feel connected and that we all greatly benefit from healthy relationships. Without this connectedness, we may experience loneliness or isolation. I provide a safe, accepting space for individuals, couples, and families using a positive Existential Therapy Model to support self-awareness, meaningful relationships, and values of life. View 5 Photos Together with my clients, I help identify personal strengths, increase self-worth, explore family behavioral patterns and roadblocks to developing healthy relationships. Most important in my therapy practice is to help clients celebrate the freedom of empowerment, healing, and connectedness - all of which I believe leads to personal growth. I have worked with a variety of populations and culturally diverse ethnic groups managing attachment injuries, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, high functioning Autism, codependency, grief, marital/family conflict, infidelity, parenting issues, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, women/men’s issues, and day-to-day stressors.

Accepting clients in January. Anxiety, depression, shame, stress, overwhelm, or burn out are some normal responses to life challenges. As social beings, we benefit deeply from supportive people and environments that assist us in uncovering and integrating the wisdom of our minds, bodies and emotions to return to our essential selves--the part that is unshaped by adaptation to difficult experiences. It is my honor to be present and help facilitate people finding their inner strengths, true self, abilities and qualities they didn't fully realize they own as they release the negative effects of the past. As an EMDR and somatically trained, trauma-informed therapist, I use either or both methods to help increase sense resilience and ability to be present as a foundation to help reclaim health, inner peace and joy. These modalities make the counseling process experiential and dynamic to support people with making lasting changes on a deep internal level. EMDR services may be provide to people who have a counselor but ongoing on with your primary therapist is required. Your sense of resilience, peace, comfort, contentment, fulfillment, creativity and joy are important and worth investing in. A free, 10 minute scheduled phone consultation is available to see if we would be a good fit.

**** NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME*** Sometimes we find ourselves at odds with our circumstances or it might seem like our circumstances are actively working against us. Do you have a history of anxiety, depression, PTSD or are these feelings new to you? Are you are struggling with difficult life transitions such as pregnancy/child birth/family planning, life altering decision-making, or low self-esteem? You don't have to carry the weight alone. Together we can identify barriers as well as your strengths and skills that can be utilized to foster the development of the person you can be most proud of. Along with being eclectic in my approach by pulling from evidenced based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I also promote the mind/body connection through incorporating practices of yoga, meditation, exercise, nutrition, and religious/spiritual ceremony into the therapeutic discussion. I am devoted to creating an inclusive and safe environment with respect to all personal and cultural identities. I am a firm believer in the power of humor. Finding the humor can offer us perspective, it can connect us, and most importantly, laughing especially with another person, just feels good!

I've spent my life searching. And in that quest I have explored my own struggles in life, battled my demons, and have experienced both the joys and the hardships that life so often delivers. It was my own questioning that led me to become a therapist; I want to dig deeper, I want to know more, and I want to help others on their journey as well. I have fought the battle of addiction and have come to know the freedom of recovery. I also understand the complexities of relationships and how they affect our sense of being connected. I utilize Dialectal Behavioral Therapy and Solutions Focused Therapy and have completed extensive trainings in Brainspotting Trauma Care, DBT for Adolescents, Attachment Theory for couples and relationships, and offer Intervention Services worldwide. I specialize in substance use disorders and how they effect the entire family, but also work with a variety of relational and emotional issues. I believe we all possess the potential to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives... sometimes we just need a little guidance out of the darkness and back into the light.

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist who enjoys working with couples, families, and individuals of all ages who desire a stronger connection with their loved ones. The most important aspect of therapy is helping clients uncover their inherent strengths and empowering them to create lasting change in themselves and their relationships! I am here to listen and collaborate with you, not make judgments or talk you out of how you're feeling. We all need help sometimes, and knowing when to reach out is a major strength.
