Beneath all of our disappointments, losses, and heartbreaks, we all want to be valued for who we are, accepted for how we feel, and respected for what we think. I will encourage you to cultivate present moment awareness and self-compassion for the painful difficulties, challenging life circumstances, and to the inner narrative that keeps you stuck in habitual patterns of reacting. While fear and doubt may obscure your perspective, we will work together to help you develop strength-based skills and capacities for moving through challenges. I will help you access your inner wisdom for cultivating trust, balance, clarity, & connection. I use a mindfulness-based approach that helps you develop skills and tools to loosen the grip of overwhelming thoughts and worry about the future and soothe feelings of regret and sorrow from the past. Learning to live in present moment awareness empowers you to embrace all of your life in each unfolding moment with greater acceptance, aliveness, and peace. My training in Mind-Body Medicine, IFS, CBT, Positive Psychology, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, meditation and yoga therapy and work in private practice, clinics, schools, psychiatric wards has provided me with a diverse set of clinical skills that relieve symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, attentional challenges, grief, and relationship issues.

Seeking an intentional space for healing and discovery is a meaningful choice. Through curiosity, warmth, and honesty, I work collaboratively to support clients in connecting their history, relationships, environment, to their current challenges and future goals. I believe that all of our stories are contextual, therefore I work towards identifying oppression-based barriers and explore the environmental impact through an anti-oppressive and liberation lens. My focus is to create a space where you can be empowered, express your pain, learn new ways of coping, and continue to grow into your most authentic self. My therapy approach is integrative, client centered, & depth oriented. I have special interest and experience with LGBTQIA+ individuals, trauma survivors, polyamorous/CNM & kink/BDSM relationships, neurodivergent folks, & artists. I enjoy working with a range of concerns: identity development, depression, anxiety, relationships, substance use, & self-harm. I welcome people from all backgrounds and lived experiences. I am interested in co-creating space with you that challenges dominating narratives and structures and actively works to counter oppressive systems (i.e. racism, transphobia, homophobia, classism, & ableism). I can be contacted through my listed number, email, or website.

Feeling like there is just too much to process? I help clients develop healthy self-compassion as they balance responsibilities and relationships with the cumulative stress of unresolved traumas and/or the current economic/political/environmental crises. When we explore patterns in our boundaries, families, and relationships, we can reveal deeper truths and unmet needs, and are empowered to make changes that promote safety and reduce the feeling of being stuck. It is important that you feel heard by a professional who supports you. Third Culture Kids, nomads, fish out of water, and micro-minorities welcome. We will create context. I work collaboratively to address shame and suffering resulting from abuse, neglect, erasure, and power imbalances, including invisible/marginalized identities, moral injury and existential dread. I have worked extensively with individuals and relationship systems whose stories hold trauma. I support many who once thought they were “too weird” for therapy. Relief is important to me. It’s likely you have already spent a lot of energy coping with the mental and/or physical manifestations of your suffering. Allow me to join you so that we can continue and build something sustainable together. You do not deserve to feel out of place in your own life. Call me for a free consultation and let’s do this work together.

At a young age, I knew that I loved listening to people’s stories. This started with my ability to get lost in books, TV shows, and films, and then led to studying theatre. Eventually, I realized how I could combine my passion for stories, the empathy I felt, and the joy I experienced from being a helper – by being a therapist. I earned my doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Tennessee in 2014, and, since then I have worked as a professor in psychology and counseling as well as a therapist. In my private practice, I am available to see individuals via telehealth in all 40 PSYPACT states (see: https://psypact.org/mpage/psypactmap). As a therapist, I offer an authentic, non-judgmental space, filled with unconditional care and, I guarantee, laughter. I will work with you to establish goals, and, with patience, accomplish the change that you want in your life. I identify strongly as an ally and I have a special interest in codependency recovery; grief therapy, especially the loss of a parent or pet/animal family member; life transitions, such as adjusting to college, a new job, move, or relationship change; men’s issues; LGBTQ+; and the use of Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma recovery. When I’m not working with clients, I enjoy providing supervision to therapists-in-training or for licensure; walking and listening to audiobooks, just about any kind of music, and podcasts; ridiculously decorating my house for various holidays; spending time with my partner and ragdoll cat, Harry; cooking; and binge-watching TV shows.

I work with men who have difficulty identifying with their feelings, struggle with depression and anxiety, or have issues with their work/life balance. My clients typically struggle with expressing themselves in their relationships. They feel lonely, hopeless, and isolated. They are overworked and under loved. In our work together, I will give you support, feedback and insight, and constructively challenge patterns and beliefs that may be getting in your way. Together we can strive to understand the roots of the struggles you are experiencing in your life. I utilize techniques from numerous evidenced-based theoretical perspectives and will customize treatment to fit your specific needs. My work is often a mixture of psychodynamic, attachment, and systems theories. This approach views clients within the context of early experiences, attachment to caregivers, and within multiple systems (family, work, school). I work with individuals and couples by builiding a relationship that recognizes that each person I work with has a life filled with complex experiences beyond the presenting concern. I look to find understanding and connection through exploration of those varied experience. I help clients work through their relationship with their body and how sex and intimacy are impacted as a result of changes that happen postpartum, with a chronic illness or surgery. I love working with people exploring life transitions, including those happening in early adulthood, career changes, beginning and ending relationships, fertility challenges, pregnancy, post-partum, parenting, and health diagnoses. As a licensed social worker and marriage and family therapist, working towards becoming a certified sex therapist, I try to understand the intersectional identities of the people with whom I work. I specialize in working with adults with eating disorders and disordered eating, and the conditions that often co-occur with eating concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and trauma. I also have an extensive research background in chronic fatigue syndrome (sometimes called myalgic encephalomyelitis or ME/CFS) and have worked on multiple NIH-funded studies; I am aware of the unique challenges faced by individuals living with ME/CFS and other poorly understood, stigmatized health conditions. I provide evidence-based interventions that are tailored to my client’s needs and progress. I have experience working in eating disorder residential/day programs, university counseling centers, and community mental health centers. As a community psychologist, I also have a strong commitment to social justice, to working with those whose identities have been marginalized, and to understanding the impact of cultural/social context on mental health. I believe that establishing a collaborative, safe, and trusting relationship is the foundation of any effective therapy. In therapy, clients will learn new skills and strategies for coping with life’s demands and will gain insight into what contributes to and maintains unfulfilling behavioral, emotional, and relational patterns.

Life is complicated. Despite our best efforts, there are days where we all feel unhappy, anxious, and inadequate. Some of our struggles are results of our choices, but many of the hardships we face exist as a result of the way our loved ones and life circumstances treat us. Hardship can come in many forms - depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, addiction, and unhappy relationships. Sadly, life rarely pauses when we are struggling, and we are expected to keep functioning as professionals, parents, partners, and friends. This pressure can sometimes feel suffocating and can make an already difficult situation worse. While I cannot change how the world treats you, I can help you develop the skills, strength, and resilience needed to overcome hardships and strengthen your relationships with the people most important to you. Deep down inside, we all know the person we want to be - the right therapist can work with you to help you become that person. I utilize strengths-based and client-centered approaches in the counseling space, but I always tailor my approach to the person or couple in front of me. Each of us has life experiences that make us unique, and I will work alongside you to ensure that ours is a successful and effective partnership. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together.

I am a firm believer that effective communication is essential to overcoming many challenges. I also work with clients struggling with anger management and am willing to work with people who are court-mandated. No offering virtual Video sessions online. From me you will get sincerity and effectiveness. My interventions are based on a common sense approach. I use an humanistic approach. I believe client already has in their possession all the tools and answers to their issues. Society sends us the wrong messages instant gratification. and consumption. Our addiction to our phones causes us to be absent from each other. FB takes away contentment as it promotes narcissism and unjust feelings on jealously based on the fiction and competition among "friends" I also work with individuals who are court mandated for treatment of substance abuse.
