After 15 years working with community-based, non-profit agencies in multiple roles as well as about 20 years working with vulnerable youth, I am happily dedicated to private practice care. My practice is centered around whole-person treatment. Together, we will explore root causes to your symptoms, the narrative of your family system, process old trauma and develop healthy coping skills to manage your symptoms. Trauma, OCD, Generalized Anxiety and Codependency Treatment, are my primary specialties, and I look forward to learning about and helping you identify your unique goals for therapy. I find that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Trauma-Focused CBT as well as Short-term, Solution Focused Therapy, are efficient in the goal-setting process for most clients. I also use Narrative Therapy and Depression Treatment Quality Improvement (DTQI) methods to support reducing Depression. Treatment is not one-size fits all. My approach is to hold empathy, compassion and work from the stance that everyone can grow into the person they want to be. I do my best to be real and infuse humor in my style of therapy. I'm experienced in working with at-risk youth 3-18 and adults 18-60. I have collaborated with human services, school systems, and other mental health systems. My clinical area of interest and training is in behavioral pediatric counseling and cognitive behavioral therapy. I use my training to promote positive mental and behavioral health to children and their families. I use skills from a treatment approach called Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to teach caregivers positive parenting and relationship-enhancing skills. PCIT teaches behavior management strategies to manage disruptive behavior, aggression, and promote adhering to instructions and family home rules. Other mental and behavioral concerns I assist children, youth, and families with include: academic problems, adjustments (death, divorce), aggression, ADHD, autism, child abuse/neglect/trauma, depression, developmental disabilities, fears & anxieties, feeding problems/picky eaters, oppositional behavior, pain management, parent training, sibling rivalry, sleep concerns, stress, thumb sucking, & toilet training. Additionally, I have completed training in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), an empirically-supported treatment program to assist children and their non-offending parents during the process of healing from child abuse, neglect, and trauma. I use these skills to assist individuals through traumatic experiences they've encountered.

Reaching out can be difficult, but you can rest assured your privacy is protected and secure in therapy. Everyone deserves a safe place to unpack life's challenges and hardships with support. Having the right therapist is critical to the process. My style is lovingly honest in order to best serve you. It is my philosophy that therapy can be like going to the gym...if you don't feel it- you probably aren't changing much. It is my job to both support and challenge in areas that will facilitate growth. Often times much of my work is centered around supporting clients on becoming more mindful and breaking old patterns. I have worked with a wide range of populations and specialize in substance abuse, anxiety, depression, and trauma work. I use a diverse range of methods from EMDR, CBT, psychoeducation, and process type therapies. I look forward to hearing how I can be of help to you. I specialize in anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, chronic pain, health challenges, traumatic loss, grief, relationship issues, and other life transitions. I work with individuals ages 21 through older adulthood. My approach to counseling is based on a variety of theoretical perspectives including Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapies and Existential (meaning-based) Therapy. My practice may include a variety of therapeutic techniques: talk therapy, monitored self-help exercises, relaxation exercises, artistic expression, journal writing, creative visualization, and guided meditation.
