I weave together elements of positive psychology, strength-based counseling, Buddhist psychology, and yoga therapy (when appropriate) to help people deepen their awareness of how they want to grow or heal. For some that may be gaining clarity and taking action for growth or healing. For others it may be navigating a new phase of life, either one they initiated or not. And for some, it may be finding inner guidance and practicing strategies to manage a difficult situation. These are just a few examples of individuals who have found working with me supportive. For more details visit: www.abeautifuljourneycoaching.com I meet each person where they are and help them gain clarity about how counseling or coaching can support them and identify what they want to move toward. I do not work within a clinical or medical model framework. Each person is capable of the growth or healing they desire. I help them discover how to do that. I do not use diagnoses in my practice. I do not work from a clinical/medical model and therefore do not accept insurance. I have a tiered fee scale of $70, $90, and $110/hour with a limited number of spaces at $40/hour for individuals experiencing a significant financial challenge. Contact me for a free consultation (30 minutes) so we can explore the possibility of working together.

I work with individuals, couples, and groups that are faced with a variety of challenges, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, interpersonal conflict and dissatisfaction, infidelity, impulse control, and adjustment issues. I am trained and use ACT principles when working with my clients. ACT is a mindfulness, acceptance, and commitment approach to psychotherapy. Working together, I help clients slow down the thought process so they can thoughtfully respond to difficult thoughts and emotions. This allows you to take value-based behavioral action as opposed to having emotional, automatic reactions. You are the CEO of your treatment. My role is to be the tour guide to the story of your life. We embark on this journey together to better understand your narrative and what may be getting in the way of living a more fulfilling life. In addition to counseling adults and couples, I work with a number of elite amateur and professional athletes. I also have experience working at Intensive Outpatient Programs, facilitating groups and working with individuals struggling with substance abuse.

I specialize in using mindfulness-based approaches to treat clients struggling with general & social anxiety; depression; identity development; authentic self-expression & embodiment; coping with life transitions; identifying best choices for life path & finding one's purpose; integrating psychedelic or spiritual experiences; boundary setting; & communicating effectively in relationship. My approach to therapy focuses on empowering clients by to direct their life's course with confidence & know-how, providing skills for successful emotional regulation & creating therapeutic opportunities for developing self-knowledge & inner-wisdom. My work has led me to believe in the human capacity for emotional health & resilience under even the toughest of circumstances. In treatment, I nourish this capacity by using evidence-based interventions, an appreciation for the spontaneous & the playful, and drawing on what I know has worked well in the past with other clients facing similar challenges. I am continually humbled by how the therapeutic journey is defined by the ways in which it is unique to each traveler, not by similarities. I always keep this in mind when working with clients. Every person goes through transitions in their lives. Spiritual transitions can be some of the more difficult. Anger, loneliness, and confusion can come up to rear their ugly head when you need the strength and understanding to move forward. This can be a very difficult time because it is almost like losing one's identity. Being able to move towards a happier life that is more congruent with who you want to be can be done with some hard work. Looking in can help calm the noise and clear the path for this journey. The first step can be the hardest but can lead down a rewarding path of self-discovery. Instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater, it is time to look toward your values to help navigate through this confusing time. Getting to know yourself again can be a freeing experience. Doing work through acceptance, values, mindfulness, and commitment methods can help identify and live these values for life with or without religion or faith. This path may be hard but can be very freeing and empowering. These were many of the feelings that I had when going through this myself. If you are ready to take the first steps of the journey toward a more inclusive, happy, and more true self value-based life, set up an appointment and let us start the journey together.

I believe that in therapy, the focus should first be on learning to gain acceptance of ourselves. I feel that our beliefs about ourselves are paramount because they shape the beliefs that we have about other people and in turn, the rest of our environment. After we identify the beliefs about ourselves that need to be adjusted, we can work on how to improve those beliefs, which will improve our interactions with others and the way that we see the world. I look forward to helping others with that process. View 5 Photos Another focal point of therapy is to examine the way that we develop our identities based on our perceptions of where we come from and what we have been through in life. Everyone has the opportunity to improve their sense of self by improving how they develop their respective identity. I am a real down to Earth person and my motto is that you should always entertain the possibility that you might be wrong - which I also practice daily. Although it isn't something that comes naturally to most, its something that, once you practice, can change your relationships and your life for the better.
