Existing can be difficult. Tolerating the pressures of personal and societal histories can leave you feeling stuck; add figuring out meaning and purpose of life, and things get overwhelming. Using a straightforward, interactive style (with plenty of humor) I will assist you in bringing a new understanding to issues from the past that limit and color the present. I create a collaborative space where we make sense of all the unknowns of life; whether you are looking to heal shame, trauma, or heal anxiety or grief, I will help you can make the changes necessary to make living a bit easier and move through life with more grace. View 5 Photos Together, and/or with your partner/partners, we will dive into uncomfortable and often unfamiliar emotional territory. Through our relationship pulling from my Queer Latine/x lens, we will discover your core-self and heal of old patterns; I will help you to (re)connect with your life purpose and build an empowered, dynamic life you wish to be living. I welcome individuals, adolescents, and relationships styles. My special interests include LGBTQ+ folx, artists / creative professionals, seeking connection and understanding of self and other through emotions. I have an intuitive approach that pulls from my skills in contemporary relational psychoanalysis, Aedp, and Brainspotting.

Therapy can be confusing, empowering, illuminating, and challenging. In our work together, my goal is to help you make space for conflicted emotions within the safety and comfort of our therapeutic relationship. I believe that our past informs our present and also that we have the power to change our current realities, once we understand them better. We will utilize what happens in the therapy room as meaningful and rich information that provides clues to dynamics which may repeat themselves in your day-to-day life. I work primarily from a psychodynamic frame and integrate other approaches thoughtfully and intentionally as needed. View 5 Photos It is my goal to guide our work together without judgement, with empathy and warmth, and to always embrace a holistic lens. I specialize in working with young adults and adults who are experiencing anxiety and mood difficulties as they navigate life transitions and grapple with questions of identity. Fit is essential to impactful treatment, and a phone consultation may help you decide if we may be a good fit. I welcome the opportunity to speak further to determine if I may be helpful to you.

Welcome to my psychotherapy practice. With over 20 years of experience, I offer children, families, and adults a safe and accepting environment to explore and gain a better understanding of the issues most affecting their lives. Rather than solely focusing on behaviors or symptoms, I work with individuals and families on gaining insight and understanding into the various underlying causes of their thoughts, feelings, and actions. It is only then that meaningful and long-lasting change is possible. For adults, feelings of worry, sadness, anger, guilt, stress, and self-doubt are often caused by a combination of present life circumstances and troubling past experiences. Together, we will work on helping you make inner changes and choices that will ultimately lead to a more meaningful, satisfying, and enjoyable life. Children often have difficulty putting their feelings into words. Instead, they "act out" these feelings within their relationships with parents, siblings, and others. The goal of child therapy is to promote healthy and progressive emotional development. This is achieved through play and talk therapy along with parent guidance sessions.

There are so many in today’s world struggling, to be heard, to find hope. In my lifetime I have experienced, traumas, loses and grief. Understanding the significance of events on overall wellness, I want nothing more than to give others the opportunity to find hope, to find a way out of whatever hole they might be in, To strengthen their resiliencies to overcome whatever barrier might be holding them back. People of all ages, cultures, and ways of thinking all have struggles and I offer a safe environment to be heard, and to finally obtain freedom from whatever ails you, be it addiction, trauma, or new adjustments in life. I work from an eclectic standpoint, believing fully that each person has their own unique story, or maybe battle for some. There is no standard modality for each person but rather just a desire to hear your particular story, and assist you in your endeavor to live the best possible. My personal journey has lead me through sexual trauma as a child, loss of close friends and loved ones, cheating spouses and divorce. I also have extensive training in crisis intervention for those times when the pressure is just too great to think clearly. I offer a safe environment to tell me your story. I'm all ears.

I work with those who feel disconnected from themselves and the world around them. Stress, trauma, or other difficulties can leave us feeling splintered and fragmented. We will welcome you back into your mind, body, and spirit. I am identity affirming; I offer a space where you can be seen and heard without reservation. I work with individuals who are exploring all facets of their identity across the spectrum of human experience. I specialize in supporting those who are post-religious and finding it difficult to navigate that journey. The foundation of my approach is acceptance. I don't believe anything is "wrong" with you, there is nothing about you that is shameful. I believe that we can work together to integrate that vision into how you view yourself. You are enough, you are worthy, and I see that!

I have significant experience in the fields of Human Services, Criminal Justice, and Clinical Social Work. I have expertise in working with clients whom have mild to severe clinical psychological needs. Focus areas of my work include, but are not limited to, independent treatment of mood dysregulation, co-occurring and dual diagnosis disorders, personality and addictive disorders, legally mandated clients, anger, grief and loss, as well as family and couples work. I take great pride in practicing as a professional, but also as a "real person" with real life experiences both personally and professionally. My strength is in quickly building a trusting rapport with clients; setting them at ease with a genuine personality, friendly smile, open mind, and compassionate heart. I work to encourage and challenge client's patterns of thinking and behavior(s). I create an accepting and supportive environment using Positive Psychology, EFT, CBT, and MI. Do you feel stuck? That something is missing but you're not sure what? How about that you know what's missing and it's being true to who you are? Throughout the years of experience that I have working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults I have learned that at the basis of all of our life experiences, we all wish to be heard, accepted, and to feel connected to ourselves, others, and our emotions. By being in a safe therapeutic relationship that accepts you as you are, you are able to unburden the heaviness that you've been carrying and with this new feeling of relief, there is hope for something new and healing. I base my therapy work on helping the client become "unstuck". We'll learn how to cope with the "now" using coping skills but we will also work to uncover where these difficulties may be coming from using psychodynamic, CBT, and EFT to build insight and awareness of how our past connects with our "now" and what cycles we can break to have permanent healing. So if you're ready to make that first move to uncovering and discovering your true self, come on in and take a seat in my office wherever you may feel comfortable. And let the real work begin.

Do you feel disconnected from yourself and others? Do you find it difficult to identify, understand, or manage your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors? In my work, I strive to create an accepting, non-judgmental environment where you can feel safe exploring the difficult, and sometimes painful, parts of yourself. I view therapy as a deeply meaningful and collaborative process that can serve as a catalyst to shifting the way you relate to yourself and others. This allows for more fulfilling and meaningful relationships, and the subsequent easing of psychological symptoms. I utilize a relational, insight-oriented approach in therapy while also emphasizing warmth, genuineness, and spontaneity. While I am comfortable working with a wide range of presenting problems and issues, I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, identity/relational/cultural concerns, third-culture-individuals, trauma, and personality disorders. I understand that the search for a therapist can sometimes feel daunting or overwhelming. To schedule an initial phone consultation, please fill out and submit my New Patient Screening Form at "screening.dradrianchiu.com/PT" - I will then be in touch via email within 24 hours.

You were not born inherently flawed, and you were not born to suffer, but maybe somehow, somewhere along the way, your brain received this information and it has shaped the way you live your life. Feelings of isolation, guilt, shame, anger, and sadness have begun to feel inescapable, making it difficult to ask for/ accept help from others. You may feel trapped in a cycle of harmful and problematic behaviors , thoughts, relationships- you know something isn’t working, but can’t seem to figure out why or where to begin to start feeling better . Give yourself credit- you’ve already taken a big step forward, which brought you here. My practice is strongly rooted in uncovering the harmful beliefs you may have developed about yourself, how these beliefs are preventing you from healing, and identifying ways to break free of painful life patterns. I specialize in working with teens and adults with addiction, gender identity/ LGBTQA+ struggles, depression, C-PTSD, and generational trauma. “Anything that is ‘wrong’ with you began as a survival mechanism in childhood”- Gabor Mate. My goal is to provide a space for you to feel accepted, secure, & empowered to examine these parts of yourself, acknowledge what is no longer serving you, and provide unconditional positive regard as you establish healthy ways to process your experiences.

During the course of our lives we experience many joys and hardships, and along with them the full range of human emotions. Each moment and feeling is an opportunity to better understand self, other, and the world. Your painful feelings may be signals that old wounds need to be acknowledged or that your truth is not being lived fully. If you are currently struggling to cope with life challenges, feeling unfulfilled or seeking personal growth, the therapeutic relationship can provide an open and nonjudgmental atmosphere to explore the body and mind in a safe, comfortable space. I believe therapy is useful for everyone, whether you are struggling to cope with general life stressors or want to work on becoming your best self. I discovered early in my career that traditional talk therapy doesn’t work best for everyone. I draw on ancient practices, Eastern medicine and evidence-based research to awaken your innate healing potential.
