Beneath all of our disappointments, losses, and heartbreaks, we all want to be valued for who we are, accepted for how we feel, and respected for what we think. Learning to live in present moment awareness empowers you to embrace all of your life in each unfolding moment with greater acceptance, aliveness, and peace. My training in Mind-Body Medicine, IFS, CBT, Positive Psychology, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, meditation and yoga therapy and work in private practice, clinics, schools, psychiatric wards has provided me with a diverse set of clinical skills that relieve symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, attentional challenges, grief, and relationship issues.

If you are dealing with mental health such as anxiety or depression, PTSD/Trauma, or even a behavioral issue with your child and you would like help in forging forward. You don't have to struggle on your own. Feeling like you have to deal with these difficulties alone is a misconception. If your goal is to find understanding of what is going on with yourself or your child and find balance and acceptance through learning and practice of new skills or being able to proccess through the issues I can help you through. My grandma taught me that F.A.I.L doesn't mean failure. F.A.I.L just means First Attempt In Learning. I speacialize in taking a value based approach. With this in most cases we work together to find your values and what will lead you on the path to those values. With trauma it is different and I understand that it takes time to proccess and work through it. At the end of the day, my therapeutic approach is geared to meet your specific needs. I am fluent in ACT, CBT, and person centered. Please contact me to see if I am the right fit for you to assist in your journey to the next chapter of your life. If not I can hopefully point you in the right direction of what you are needing.

I will be most successful in treating a client who is having difficulty with emotions--such as anxiety, depression, anger, grief--and who is willing to make a commitment to work on changing thinking patterns, behavioral patterns and emotional patterns that are causing misery and distress. This potentially successful client will not just be talking about problems each session, he or she will be learning, practicing and applying new skills. If my client needs medication, I will arrange a medication evaluation by our nurse practitioner, but mainly we will focus on skills, not pills! I have been a psychiatric nurse since 1971, but became an advanced practice nurse (a nurse-therapist) in 1989. I have broad experience-- working with serious mental illness in the state hospital and working in out-patient clinics with people of all ages and all types of problems. Our clinic is small and comfortable. You will be treated like our guest. Your therapy experience will be unique and you will be pleased with your results.

Please e-mail, to be placed on waitlist. After 15 years working with community-based, non-profit agencies in multiple roles as well as about 20 years working with vulnerable youth, I am happily dedicated to private practice care. My practice is centered around whole-person treatment. Together, we will explore root causes to your symptoms, the narrative of your family system, process old trauma and develop healthy coping skills to manage your symptoms. Trauma, OCD, Generalized Anxiety and Codependency Treatment, are my primary specialties, and I look forward to learning about and helping you identify your unique goals for therapy. I find that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Trauma-Focused CBT as well as Short-term, Solution Focused Therapy, are efficient in the goal-setting process for most clients. I also use Narrative Therapy and Depression Treatment Quality Improvement (DTQI) methods to support reducing Depression. Treatment is not one-size fits all. My approach is to hold empathy, compassion and work from the stance that everyone can grow into the person they want to be. I do my best to be real and infuse humor in my style of therapy. I believe in humility and appropriate self-disclosure, but the focus is always on you! If you would like a free-consult, please e-mail for the fastest response!

Feeling like there is just too much to process? I help clients develop healthy self-compassion as they balance responsibilities and relationships with the cumulative stress of unresolved traumas and/or the current economic/political/environmental crises. When we explore patterns in our boundaries, families, and relationships, we can reveal deeper truths and unmet needs, and are empowered to make changes that promote safety and reduce the feeling of being stuck. It is important that you feel heard by a professional who supports you. Third Culture Kids, nomads, fish out of water, and micro-minorities welcome. We will create context. I work collaboratively to address shame and suffering resulting from abuse, neglect, erasure, and power imbalances, including invisible/marginalized identities, moral injury and existential dread. If you are looking to improve your mood, friendships and relationships, ease tensions in work and family life, and resolve long-running issues that may be holding you back, I would look forward to working with you. This work takes attachment, co-regulation and the social neurobiology of emotions seriously as foundations of mental health. With the help of other trauma-specific techniques, we can also work towards peace and fulfillment in the aftermath of trauma, whether single-incident or chronic and complex. My work uses the latest evidence on how to tailor the therapeutic process to your needs and preferences so that you will be in the best possible situation to flourish, make progress on your therapeutic goals and weather the pain of addressing difficult situations in your life. In the first session, you and I will co-create a process tailored to you. This can be open ended or can focus on concrete skills like goal-setting, boundary-setting, emotion naming and regulation, mindfulness, and compassion towards others and towards yourself.

AUTHENTICITY, ALIVENESS, and CONNECTION are vital ingredients to living a healthy and meaningful life. Unfortunately these qualities do not always receive the proper attention needed to thrive. As a result, we develop coping strategies that often lead us to not getting what we want in life, leaving us feeling stuck, anxious, depressed, and hopeless. Therapy provides a unique opportunity to explore the unconscious patterns that keep us stuck. Therapy can help you make meaningful change to live the life you wish and to create the relationships you long for. I help individuals, couples, adolescents and families create necessary and meaningful changes in their lives, relationships, or with family members. Whether you are feeling stuck in your own life, or with your intimate partner/marriage, or navigating challenging dynamics with your family, I can support you to engage authentic and meaningful change. Each session is customized to support whatever needs arise in each session. I practice integrating a number of evidence based practices with attunement and empathy. I understand everyone has a plethora of different contexts--race, gender, sexuality, class, etc, that shape who we are and how we experience ourself and the world. I hold this with respect.
