Recent Updates From Alison Gardner
Last updated | Thursday October 10, 2024
For the past 15 years, I have been committed to working with preschool and school-aged children and their families who are struggling with anxiety and other emotional and behavioral regulation difficulties. I also support children and families through the complicated emotions of divorce, adoption, and other losses as well as the stress and threats to self-esteem that can accompany learning challenges, ADHD and social difficulties. I partner comprehensively with children, parents, schools, and other involved professionals with the aim of building the strongest possible foundation from which children can grow and thrive.
I believe that play is a foundational method for engaging young children using their most natural language. Through play, children share the thoughts, feelings, and experiences for which they do not yet have words as well as learn and practice new skills for success in life.
I also work closely with caregivers to learn about their parenting joys and challenges and hopes and fears for their children. We work together to integrate new insights into a parenting plan equipped with strategies to support families in growing their capacities for collaborative problem solving and emotional regulation.
