The American Institute for Cognitive Therapy is an internationally recognized group of clinical psychologists providing the highest quality cognitive-behavioral treatment for depression, anxiety, phobias, eating disorders, personality disorders, child and adolescent problems and family and marital problems. The Director, Dr. Robert L. Leahy (B.A., M.S., Ph.D. Yale University), has authored and edited 26 books is the Past President of -the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy, International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy, Academy of Cognitive Therapy and is Clinical Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical School and recipient of the Aaron T. Beck Award.
We provide a full-range of CBT approaches. My specific areas of interest include worry, rumination, emotion regulation, relationship issues, management and executive consultation, treatment for major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety, and OCD. Our staff also provide DBT, child and family treatment, treatment for eating disorders, and couples therapy.
Our group has been providing treatment and training for professionals in cognitive behavioral therapy for several decades and many of our staff also teach and supervise in graduate programs and medical school programs. We also provide DBT groups and individual DBT therapy for patients.
