Recent Updates From Ann E

Healing happens by moving through things, not by trying to go around them. My focus in the counseling work I do has long been in the fields of grief and substance use, especially in terms of where grief / loss has fed addictive behavior. It makes sense. Big feelings are uncomfortable, especially the ones we consider negative. It is understandable that we try to avoid those feelings but the reality is it doesn’t work. In my work with people I support them in gently and compassionately facing the things they don’t want to face, whether grief, addiction, anxiety, trauma or a more general sense of not being the person you want to be.
We work together to identify patterns and beliefs that are not supporting you, then explore new possibilities. My approach is holistic, incorporating body/mind/spirit. I draw upon deep listening, skillful inquiry, reflection, and psychoeducation as called for. Modalities I work with include CBT, DBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and parts work.
I believe deeply that healing is available to everyone, but it takes work. I provide a safe space for you to explore, vent, question, process, heal, and grow. If you have a sense I may be able to be of help to you, I offer a free 20-minute consultation for us to discern if we would be a good fit.
