Recent Updates From Anxiety Disorders
Last updated | Tuesday October 22, 2024
With two locations in Hartford and Cheshire, the Anxiety Disorders Center (Director: David Tolin, Ph.D.) provides outpatient, individual therapy for adults and children with anxiety disorders (including panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, separation anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder), obsessive-compulsive and related disorders (including obsessive-compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, hoarding disorder, trichotillomania, and skin-picking disorder), illness anxiety disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and school refusal/avoidance.
In most cases, we provide individual cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT emphasizes teaching people how to feel less anxious. Whereas traditional psychotherapy often takes place over several years, CBT is designed to be a relatively brief treatment with distinct, tangible goals.
The Anxiety Disorders Center is staffed by licensed psychologists who are experts in CBT for anxiety. As a clinical, research, and teaching facility, additional options may be available. Please visit our website to learn more about our program or to schedule an appointment for an initial assessment.
