Recent Updates From Lauren Cook
Last updated | Tuesday October 22, 2024
I’m Dr. Lauren Cook and I’m a licensed clinical psychologist based in the Pasadena community. I specialize in supporting clients going through life transitions, ranging from starting high school to starting a family. With my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, I also enjoy practicing couples therapy and family therapy.
I specifically practice third-wave tenets, including components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (CBT, ACT, and DBT). Thus, I love helping you identify the unhelpful thoughts that are preventing you from achieving your goals while helping you take meaningful action towards the life you want to live.
I also practice from a multiculturally-informed lens that considers the entire person and the systems that we operate within. Integrating an awareness of each of my client’s intersecting identities is key as we work together.
I began my training at UCLA, where I majored in Psychology and Communication Studies. I then earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California. It was during this time that I became trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy and learned how to help families and couples implement healthy communication strategies while building greater emotional closeness.
I went on to complete my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. Having worked at the University of Southern California’s Counseling Center, the University of San Diego Counseling Center, and the Claremont College Consortium, I specialize in supporting young adults from the teen years to the early 30s, though I enjoy working with people of all ages.
I love living in the Pasadena community and reside here with my husband and our Siamese cat, Mochi.
