Recent Updates From Madison Curry
Last updated | Thursday October 10, 2024
I specialize in somatic therapy for those who have experienced trauma. Anxiety, dissociation, reactivity, chronic worry, addiction, and hypervigilance are all adaptive responses for the body after having experienced trauma (car accidents, loss, sexual assault, oppression, domestic violence, emotional abuse, developmental/attachment injuries, and many other historically ignored experiences). My approach is queer, trans, & non-monogamous affirming, sex-positive, and based on a harm reduction approach to addiction.
Often those I work with have tried traditional talk therapy before but long-held patterns did not shift. Somatic therapy is a body-centered therapy that asks us to keep the body in mind while we are working with your current experiences. My training integrates EMDR, relational psychotherapy, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
Together we will work to reduce your experiences of distress and increase your sense of safety and connection with yourself and others. We will do this through psychoeducation, talk therapy, and the choice to work with EMDR and somatic practices in session. I trust that if you could have thought your way out of this, you would have. Let’s try something new.
