Recent Updates From Merle J
Last updated | Thursday October 10, 2024

Life can be hard and there are times when you are simply "out of solutions" or feeling overwhelmed. I provide a focused, goal-oriented and compassionate approach to handling marital,step-parenting, and divorce-related issues. I also work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, or the stresses of life's transitions (grief, mid-life changes, or just difficulty getting to the "next step"). I help people who are seeking new ways to think about & more effective skills to handle their challenges. I have a strong background in cognitive-behavioral therapy, in child development and parenting issues, and in problem-solving/mediation.
I provide individual, family, and marital therapy with a strengths-based focus. I work with my clients to formulate do-able goals and create treatment plans that are direct and focused. I am licensed as both a Clinical Psychologist and as a Marital and Family Therapist.
After completing a post-doctoral fellowship in Marital and Family Therapy, I opened my private practice in 1981. I have earned the highest level of certification (Diplomate in Clinical Psychology) in my field.
