Recent Updates From Karyn O'Leary
Last updated | Thursday March 27, 2025

I believe that children have the natural ability to heal. Through expressive therapy I find that children are given a voice to express what they often times cannot through words. I am a Virginia State Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience working in the field, and have specialized training in working with children and their families, play therapy, and the expressive therapies. My areas of expertise include working with parents of challenging children, trauma, sexual/physical/emotional abuse, mood, anxiety, emotional difficulties, behavioral problems, grief and loss, and children of divorced parents.
I work with children age 2-adolescent, parents, and adults, and have served a large population, including adoptive and foster families, children with behavioral and emotional challenges, families managing issues of trauma, emotional disregulation, attachment, grief and loss, divorce, and life transitions.
My approach is an integrative one, and I believe in seeing the whole child, rather than just the behavior. I am fluent in Spanish and have worked extensively with the Latino community for many years, providing me with knowledge of bicultural issues in children and families.
