Recent Updates From Randy Thompson
Last updated | Wednesday March 26, 2025

I have worked in the social work field for more than 30 years. I have worked with adults and children in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, hospital emergency department crisis, and 21 years in the juvenal justice system. I believe in Self-Determination Theory, an individual’s ability to make choices and manage their own life, and Person-Centered Therapy (a form of talk therapy) where the client (you) is believed to be the expert of your life and therefore you lead the direction of your therapy. I use many different modalities of evidence-based treatment including CBT, motivational interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
I work with teens and adults. I am over 60, so I have a unique perspective when working with older adults, especially older males. My 21 years in the juvenile justice system working with "at risk" and "troubled teens" gives me a better understanding of their needs and how to work with them and their issues. I am a NOJOS level 1-3 treatment provider
Kudos to you for being proactive in your life and mental health. “Picking” a therapist can be a daunting (anxiety producing) task. So choose a therapist that works for you. Don’t be afraid to ask questions before, during, and after receiving services. This is a big decision, so above all else, if you don’t connect find someone else until you do!
