If the old coping strategies have stopped working, or worse, are becoming self-destructive, reaching out for help can be a daunting but ultimately liberating step toward growth and healing. My communication style is direct, but equally warm, empathic, and relatable. I have been practicing for 25 years and am well trained to work with both youth & adults in both short-term behavioral skills-based treatment models as well as longer-term supportive psychotherapy. I have worked in both the private and non profit sectors as a clinician, clinical supervisor of intern therapists, Family Program Director, and Clinical Consultant.
I have a special interest in life transitions (leaving college and entering the workforce, life after a divorce, life after a major loss or break up, life after leaving a treatment center program, etc), anxiety and depressive disorders, and assertive communication/healthy boundaries in family systems. I work with individuals, couples, and families.
My training is a bit different than my psychologist colleagues in that, as a social worker, I think about a person as part of their environment- family, culture, religion, socio economic status, etc. A person's context is as a much consideration for me as their diagnosis, problems, and symptoms. Thanks very much for reading my page to learn more about me.
