Summary: Psych experts on reaction of protestors/ripping down posters, etc
- Name: Yelena Mandenberg The Mirror
- Category: General
- Email: query-fxf9@helpareporter.net
- Media Outlet: The Mirror
- Deadline: 2:00 PM EST – 11 November
Query: Hi! I’m a news writer for the Mirror.com, and I’m looking specifically for licensed psychologists or therapists to talk about protestor reactions to the Israel-Hamas conflict, specifically:
- What makes protestors want to rip down posters/what’s the psychological significance of the posters and ripping them down?
- How do you think social media use is affecting the conflict here and/or overseas?
- There has been a large reaction from some of the far left denying the events of October 7th – can someone explain why that is? What’s the psychological reaction behind the disbelief, or the gullibility of people consuming this kind of propaganda?
- What can be done to support Jewish communities in times of antisemitism? What can be done to support Muslim communities at a time of Islamophobia? Is it better to avoid talking about the conflict in areas, or would it be helpful for workplaces/schools/groups to reach out or address some of these issues?
Requirements: Licensed therapists and psychologists. If you only have expertise on one or a few of the questions, that’s okay, I’m looking for multiple sources! and if you have specific expertise in one of these areas or a really detailed answer, please flag that as well, and I will email you.
