I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over ten years of clinical experience. I completed my graduate degree in clinical psychology at Antioch University in Santa Barbara. I specialize in women's issues, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship issues, and trauma. My approach is client-centered and individualized to meet each client's personal needs and goals. I practice from a strength-based, trauma-informed approach using a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychoeducation, and mindfulness-based practices. I feel that therapy is not a one size fits all approach and my goal is to work collaboratively with clients on issues that are holding them back from having the life they want to be living. I use my experience to serve as a guide, working alongside each client at their pace and level of comfort. My goal is for clients to leave the session with a sense that they found a safe space in which they can grow into their ideal authentic selves. I assist clients in setting goals, developing coping strategies, and gaining self-awareness while building their confidence to make lasting changes in their lives.

Over the years working in a variety of settings with many types of people I have found my niche is working with people who have lasting effects from childhood trauma, addictions and compulsive behaviors, and difficulties in relationships. Clients tell me that my ability to stay consistent, calm, and grounded helps them slow down so they can connect to their body - feel their emotions - and experience themselves more whole and alive. Since 2004 I have worked with people with problematic sexual behavior and their loved ones as a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT) using trauma therapies and Pat Carnes Task Centered Approach. View 7 Photos I am skilled in three evidence based trauma therapies: EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing), Somatic Experiencing and IFS (internal family systems.) These approaches are highly effective when used to treat both symptoms (such as anxiety or depression) and issues that for some can be resistant with traditional talk therapy. Choosing the right therapist is a process and may take several appointments to determine if you have found the right fit. I recommend having a brief chat on the phone first and if I think I may be able to help you we would schedule a consultation. If I'm not the right fit I have a large stable of solid referrals I'm happy to pass on to you.

My practice focuses on psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Some reasons folks seek my help is to assess for autism, intellectual deficits, learning disorders, ADHD, as well as to address possible depression/anxiety that often accompany these conditions. In some cases, I am asked to perform testing to inform the efficacy of ADHD/ADD medication through the use of continuous performance testing. My approach is to learn about the whole person rather than rely on tests alone to produce an evaluation best suited to your needs. Many conditions share overlapping symptoms and behaviors making it difficult to pinpoint an underlying problem. My psychological evaluations can help parents and clients sort through this confusion so they have the information needed to inform future treatment, clarify a diagnosis, and lead to more effective treatment recommendations. Our office is located in the city of Ventura.
