It is your right as a human being to have fruitful, loving, and supportive relationships with others and yourself. Often, we are brought out of alignment with this truth. We come to believe that we are not deserving of love and kindness or that others are incapable of giving us these things. Therapy provides a connected space for us to explore our needs & desires, our fears & hopes. I work with: LGBTQ+, non-monogamy and polyamory, relationship work, conflict resolution, gender identity and transition, queer clients, infidelity & affairs, sex and intimacy, gender-affirming care referral letters. I specialize in working with consensually non-monogamous (CNM) & polyamorous individuals & partners, as well as with queer, trans, & questioning / non-conforming clients. My primary therapeutic focus is on working with relational & sexual traumas & conflicts. Anti-racism & decolonization are also huge foci for me in my therapeutic development & practice. I work primarily from the IFS model, or a "parts work" approach. IFS is a trauma-informed, evidence-based model of therapy, which builds compassion, understanding, and connection within ourselves and between others.

After a 20+ years international career as an Executive Manager in the Telecommunications Industry, Catherine has received her Master’s in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University in 2015. Catherine has created Opal counseling Center in 2015 and works with Children and their families. She works primarily with gifted, twice exceptional, and hypersensitive children, specializes in Adoption, Foster care, Autism Spectrum, ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorders. In this experiential process children can resolve behavioral challenges (like anger outbursts, hyperactivity, social isolation, bullying etc...). In addition to her degree in Psychology, Catherine is a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning with Path International and has completed the level 1 of the EAGALA Certification. Catherine is also Certified in Synergetic Play therapy and is trained in EMDR. If Catherine had a superpower, what would it be: teleportation A fun fact about Catherine: Catherine has been riding since over 35 years. She has learned to ride in Europe and has been an eventer. As her hair started to show gray colors, she felt that Eventing became too dangerous and became a Dressage rider. She also learned positive reinforcement with horses and loves to teach tricks to her horses. Contact Catherine@opalcounselingcenter.com and 720-507-6725

My goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation, improve your relationship, or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you. As a certified Imago Relationship therapist, I offer services for couples, individuals, parents, & families. Imago can take a marriage or relationship on the brink of break-up, and transform it into something stronger and more fulfilling than ever. Imago also can be used in conscious parenting to create a strong empathetic connection between parents & teens. For those living with anxiety and/or the aftermath of past traumas, talk therapy alone has limitations. Brainspotting and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy are experiential modalities that can provide relief from common internal struggles. Let's explore if one of these approaches could be right for you.

Couples Counseling: Are you longing to reconnect with your partner and get back the closeness you once had? Is it hard to talk about issues without it turning into a conflict? Has your relationship been affected by some form of infidelity and now the two of you are struggling to repair your relationship? You may have tried traditional couples counseling and are looking for a more effective approach? I use Imago Relationship Therapy as the way I work with couples because I have found it to be the most effective form of couples therapy that I have come across in my 20 years as a couples counselor. In this work, no matter what the challenges are in your relationship, you will learn an effective way to talk about them. You will understand your issues on a deeper level and explore what old wounds or unmet needs are also trying to be heard. When you bring these missing pieces into awareness, your struggles and reactions will begin to make more sense. From there, you will then explore solutions to your issues that will support you both to heal and grow as individuals and as partners. If you are ready to take the first step toward healing and growth in your relationship, I invite you to contact me for a free 20-minute phone consultation to talk about how I may be of service.

I am a psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience counseling adults & adolescents in psychotherapy. I help clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, eating disorders and body image problems, marital/relationship problems, and loss. I also help clients with stress-management, life transitions, and self-care. My approach is client-centered, and I help my clients improve their sense of well being through insight therapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I enjoy working with clients throughout the life cycle. One of my areas of specialty is eating disorders, i.e. anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and compulsive over-eating (or binge-eating). I have lectured nationally on the topics of eating disorders and body image issues, and have written numerous articles on women's body image. Other specialties include couples therapy, depression, and anxiety. If you are struggling with your mental health, please feel free to give me a call or email me. I offer a free 15 minute initial phone meeting so that we can chat about your needs, and how I may be able to be helpful to you.

My ideal client is struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, self-esteem issues, or grief. They are interested in learning about themselves and cultivating healthy coping strategies to deal with the challenges of our modern world. They understand that we all have the opportunity to continue growing and they want to live a more free, and self-expressed life. I have experience with solution-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and person-centered therapy. I always champion my client, while compassionately and firmly supporting them to take on the challenges in their life. I have significant experience with mindfulness practices and music and writing as therapeutic tools. Most people are settling for less than what their lives can possibly be. I am committed to helping you lead a self-expressed life and to help you see all the ways that you are a gift to yourself and others. I do not have all the answers, but I believe that together we can inspire each other and help you make breakthroughs you may not think are possible.

You would like feel calm and free of worry. A quiet mind would be a gift. Anxiety is maddening. Anxiety tends to take over, it causes you to avoid certain things like social situations, driving, the grocery store, and many things just to avoid feeling it. Your mind spins with worry, the what-ifs, and an attempt at gaining control while berating yourself because you can't get your sh!t together. You would love to feel relaxed, less irritable and more patient, laugh more, make decisions without second guessing yourself, and feel as if you some control over your life. Anxiety is my specialty. I personally know it from the inside out. I understand feeling it's madness and fear. I have found my way to my inner calm through a number of techniques that help me to remember and find my inner calm. You can find this too. I use a combo of mind-body-spirit methods that gets to the root of what is causing your pain. You are ok, no matter what. I can help you find that. I know reaching out is hard and allowing yourself to feel and talk about what is happening inside of you, and in your life, can be terrifying. But, it is the first step toward feeling peace, ease, and calm. It all starts on your first call with me, email/text/call to set up a 20-minute consultation.

All of us have the innate ability to heal and be free from any troubling condition. This includes the little things like loneliness and confusion as well as the big things like addiction and grief; it's all life. Tackling these issues alone is very difficult and goes against our nature. Together, we can identify the source of your current dilemma. I will engage: I will walk with you as we develop ways for you to become clear, strong, and in charge of your own life. My willingness and experience can be the necessary extra ingredient for your healing. I work with individuals who have experienced trauma, addiction, and loss. Most of us have been affected by these experiences and have never been shown an effective and personal way to deal with them. I work with mind, body, heart, and spirit to heal the whole person. My approach is personal and immediate; you and I can engage your problems in the context of your life, rather than a category or label. Our difficulties began as a good idea, an adaptive solution to an overwhelming life circumstance. They stopped working, and now we need something new.
