Therapy can be confusing, empowering, illuminating, and challenging. In our work together, my goal is to help you make space for conflicted emotions within the safety and comfort of our therapeutic relationship. I believe that our past informs our present and also that we have the power to change our current realities, once we understand them better. We will utilize what happens in the therapy room as meaningful and rich information that provides clues to dynamics which may repeat themselves in your day-to-day life. I work primarily from a psychodynamic frame and integrate other approaches thoughtfully and intentionally as needed. View 5 Photos It is my goal to guide our work together without judgement, with empathy and warmth, and to always embrace a holistic lens. I specialize in working with young adults and adults who are experiencing anxiety and mood difficulties as they navigate life transitions and grapple with questions of identity. Fit is essential to impactful treatment, and a phone consultation may help you decide if we may be a good fit. I welcome the opportunity to speak further to determine if I may be helpful to you.

I founded Cultivate Wellness LLC in December of 2021 after gaining clinical experience in the mental health field in a variety of settings, including residential, in-home, outpatient, and substance use treatment. I have experience working with both adolescents and adults. As a therapist, I create a safe space for individuals to have vulnerable and important conversations about their barriers to treatment. I use a holistic approach, incorporating mindfulness-based and grounding techniques in my practice. I also utilize Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help individuals process obstacles to maintaining balance and mental wellness. I facilitate individualized treatment based on specific needs. I received my BA in Psychology from Fairfield University, and a Master’s in Social Work from Quinnipiac University and am licensed as an LCSW. I am also certified as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200hr) and am passionate about the world of yoga and mindfulness, integrating this into my clinical practice.

Sometimes life can be challenging and reaching out for help can be difficult. Whether you are a child or an adult life can be overwhelming, which can result in losing focus on what is in your best interest. If you are a parent you may be feeling unsupported and confused about how best to help your child. We all can benefit from a little support during stressful times. As a therapist my goal is to work collaboratively with my clients to provide support and find practical solutions to assist in achieving a positive and balanced life. Your life’s journey matters and your story is important. I am here to help you navigate the bumps. I believe in the healing power of play for children, adolescents and yes for adults too. Emotions can be confusing and expressing emotions can be difficult. Play provides a non-threatening way to express oneself. My experiential approach to therapy creates a safe place where clients can explore issues while building a future that is personally rewarding. I often collaborate in sessions with one of my two canine co-therapists, Shannon and Takoda, both Approved Animal Assisted Play Therapy Dogs. Clients who have worked with the dogs have benefited from the therapeutic values of the human animal bond and the playful, gentle and supportive presence that both dogs bring to sessions.

Are you trying to make changes in yourself, your work, your education, or your relationships? Maybe the problem is clear but the solution feels out of reach. Or maybe it’s not quite clear what is out of kilter, but you or they sense change is necessary. Even if there is no owner's manual for change, my life experience as a parent/grandparent, and my varied professional background in mental health, public policy, and academia have convinced me that change can be an enriching part of life. Psychotherapy is a place to explore change openly. Together we will explore your identities, your dreams, your values, and your fears. Therapy is a sanctuary from the judgements we make of ourselves and those we fear others make of us. It is a place for us to contemplate together how you came to be who you are and feel how you feel so you can move forward with a greater sense of freedom. Using supportive exploration and pragmatic guidance, I will work with you to explore who you are and why you feel the way you do. This includes understanding the identities you hold, where you come from, and the cultures in which you live. I am licensed in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa..

My path to therapy has been anything but ordinary. Twelve years ago, I took a leap of faith and packed my entire life into a single suitcase, leaving South Africa behind to build a new chapter in the United States. Today, I am blessed with a beautiful family and a career that fills me with passion and purpose. Although I initially pursued acting, I soon discovered my true calling: working closely with clients like you, witnessing their personal growth, and helping them thrive! There's nothing more fulfilling to me than connecting with individuals one-on-one and making them feel seen, heard, and understood. Specializing in bipolar disorder, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders, I am also a passionate sexologist dedicated to supporting clients in their journey towards relationship development. By assisting you in identifying your relationship goals, I provide valuable knowledge, skills, tools, and strategies that empower you to achieve lasting fulfillment. As a voice-over artist, I merge my love for mental health with my creative talents. I am the proud creator of "Karma Mind," a transformative guided meditation podcast that explores the profound healing benefits of meditation and mindfulness practice. Reach out to me today and let's embark on this extraordinary therapy journey together.

I bring to our therapeutic relationship over 25 years of experience working with children, teens, adults and families. As a therapist I am deeply invested in my clients’ unique stories. It is my goal to help them develop insight into the ways that their past and present intersect with their neurobiology while also uncovering the narrative they developed as a way to make sense of their experiences. This takes us to a space of understanding and connection which is often where change happens. My style is open and honest. I probably talk more than some other therapists and I don’t believe that awkward silence or blank stares are helpful in this process. I bring my full self to our sessions so you feel like you are talking to a real person. It is in this context that clients are most likely to bring their own full self to the session as well. I use humor and a lot of analogies to help clients develop insight and find new ways to look at old problems. Although therapy can’t magically fix things, it is helpful to have someone hold up a mirror to help you see what is there while simultaneously supporting you and always rooting for you.

I have 17+ years experience building positive and productive therapeutic relationships with individuals, couples and families. It is time to let go of those unhelpful patterns, thoughts and behaviors that are keeping you stuck. Together let’s start replacing them with healthy productive ones so you can live the life you desire. Caring for your emotional and physical health is often pushed to the side as the tasks of daily life take front stage. Neglecting mental/emotional health is counterproductive. Issues emerge and it is all to easy to get stuck in unproductive patterns. Take your life back and stay on the path you want to be on.
