During these trying times, I understand how anxiety, depression, relationship woes, physical and mental health challenges, and family strife can increase as if it's under a microscope! Individuals want and need internal working systems that help them do more than cope and survive, they need the strength and awareness to grow from trials and tribulations both within and outside of one's control. View 4 Photos I am a clinical psychologist who is real and genuine when working with a couple or individual, both young and old. I provide clear, understandable interpretations and suggestions at which time the clients are able to consider, process, and then work through how life experiences and relationships have brought them to their current place in life. I approach every client and family from a strength-based, humanistic, and compassionate place; the same as I do in relationships closest to me. I work from my heart and only with the utmost respect and optimism necessary to promote a healthy, trusting therapeutic relationship with every person who reaches out to me.

Ever board a flight on a dark, dreary day, only to find yourself minutes later above the clouds in a clear sky? The truth is, the sun is always shining; it's just that at times, we can't see it. It's easy to loose track of the simple facts. I see therapy as a chance to remember or awaken some of the basic truths we may have known at one time, but through the ups and downs of life, have lost track of. Once reoriented to our truths, life feels more balanced and stable. Allowing ourselves to be who we genuinely are is what healing is all about. Living authentically, we become more fully alive and are able to accept support from others. For over 20 years, my work has been described as intuitive, challenging, respectful. The warm, comforting environment I offer, supports the process of self-discovery and change. Andersonville location.

Does it sometimes feel like you are not living the life you thought that you would? Or that you could be more content with your situation? Or perhaps you are having trouble making decisions about what to do next? If so, therapy can help you clarify what is important to you and what is causing you to feel stuck. I am happy to work together with you to better understand your past while also finding new ways of moving forward in a meaningful way. I am experienced in addressing issues related to anxiety, worry, role transitions, loss, anger, parenting, relationship difficulties, and career contentment. Sometimes a specific issue is causing difficulty and sometimes it seems as if something is just not "right." Maybe you have sought treatment before or maybe this is the first time you are contacting a counselor. That's ok. Therapy can help you define what is bothering you and together we can explore solutions to help you feel confident and productive again.

My style of therapy is best suited towards clients who hope to develop a meaningful therapeutic relationship that can be used to better understand and address uncomfortable feelings and problematic relational patterns. By helping clients talk about disappointing and hurtful relationships throughout their lives, I have been amazed to see how well clients can make sense of what once seemed confusing and disorienting, ultimately moving forward with greater confidence. Additionally, I have a deep respect for the healing process that ensues when people can express their feelings and thoughts free of fear or inhibition. My clinical work draws heavily from my training in psychoanalytic theory and technique; to this end, I encourage dream interpretation, analysis of the unconscious, and expression of repressed emotions as avenues towards change. I also lean upon my lifelong experiences as a musician to help people access their intuition and foster creativity in their lives. As the assistant director of The Center for Grief Recovery, I specialize in clinical work with loss, grief and trauma. I am the author of Personal Grief Rituals, which explores how bereaved individuals can create unique expressions of grief and more meaningful acts of mourning to heal after a loss.

A certain level of disillusionment exists when your external world doesn't match your internal one. Restless and intrusive thoughts may be hindering your everyday joys or harsh flashbacks affecting your presence and sense of safety. A certain level of growth is wanted, but the pathway how to get there may seem unclear or too difficult. I can help by building upon your already-existing skills and resilience to decrease your shame-narrative with a healthier mental paradigm. I incorporate somatic and experiential techniques into sessions to aid in addressing and processing chronic and pervasive trauma. We will increase your awareness of how your current reactions were once useful and thus adaptive and work on (re)instating a sense of safety within your body and mind. We will also work to reframe your symptoms as understandable remnants of past abusive environments/relationships and work to increase your agency and sense of healthy self-control. I specialize in childhood trauma/Complex PTSD/PTSD, dissociation/dissociative disorders, depression, anxiety, anger/rage, as well as self-esteem/shame. Healing from childhood trauma is most effective in the context of a compassionate and safe therapeutic relationship. Only if you wish, I can weave in faith-based, Christian aspects into our work.
