Difficult times in life are opportunities for growth and change. I specialize in exploring identity, relationships, and transitions, mindful of the interplay between our formative experiences and current ways of being in the world. Through the therapeutic process, we understand and address anxious and depressed feelings; recover from losses and addictions, and manage work and family related stresses. I facilitate my clients' innate movement toward healing and authenticity. I have 20 years of experience working with adults in the process of transforming their lives, drawing on their strengths and lived experiences to inform the challenges they are facing. My work focuses on helping clients recognize self- limiting patterns and forge new ways of relating to themselves and others. In addition to the above issues, I help people to discern, prepare for, maintain or transition from their vocations, professions, and relationships. In support of these shifts, we develop self care practices that will make their work and personal lives more sustainable.

You are the expert on your experience, I simply serve as a guide to the process. - Therapy is a partnership between you and me, (and my corgi Bennett who may make an appearance now and then - don’t worry, he’s bound by HIPAA too). - I am honored to be in a position where I am able to support my community. The community served include those struggling with a variety of relationship, intimacy, and sexual issues. I also work well with those who are navigating cultural transitions, such as self-identity / exploration, marriage, blended families, immigrants, and refugees. Navigating various domains of life is tough and you are not alone. If you have felt marginalized due to your sexual orientation, age, race, ethnicity, physical ability, or religion, it causes elevated feelings of anxiety, regret, and shame, that impact your day-to-day life and interpersonal relationships. - As a counselor, I employ a sex positive, goal oriented, directive, and integrative theoretical model with my clients. I believe in fostering a healthy environment within the therapeutic space by building trust and mutual respect with you. You should feel comfortable speaking about your thoughts and feelings free from any judgement. By creating such an environment, my goal is that you feel empowered in your exploration toward improving your overall mental health.

As a culturally affirming trauma therapist, my highest intention is to restore dignity to those who have been marginalized or exiled from our human community because of their traumatic experiences. I see therapy as a journey we embark on together, where I am invited not only to tread the well-worn paths of our shared humanity, but also to walk reverently into the sacred spaces of my clients' life stories. I approach this work with humility, deep respect, and a fierce commitment to my clients' well-being. I am known to hang in there when things get tough, and I enjoy a healthy dose of playfulness and humor in every relationship. For over 30 years, I have specialized in the treatment of childhood trauma and traumatic loss, self-harm, eating disorders, and adoption. I have also worked extensively with grief, depression, anxiety and school difficulties. As a member of the LGBTQIA community, I am privileged to work with those who identify on the LGBTQIA sexuality and gender spectrum. I know how difficult it can be to ask for help. Beginning therapy requires a great deal of courage and a willingness to loan your trust to a complete stranger. I will work to earn that trust and begin our work together at a pace that works best for you. I also offer a 25-minute free consultation session to meet one another and discuss any questions.

Hi, I'm Dr. Greg. Helping clients cope with depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues is the focus of my practice. I try to maintain a balanced approach using an individual blend of theory and insight, practical applications, and humor. This can include discussions of physical, emotional, mental, and metaphysical wellbeing. Anger, work stress, frustration, loss, trauma and life's unexpected complications can get in between us and a peaceful experience of living. Assisting people in overcoming these challenges is my life's work. Please reach out to someone if it seems your life is being directed by negative emotions. Alternative therapies, including diet, nutritional supplements, mindfulness, and meditation, are available. I have been certified in EMDR since 1996 have succesfully used this to address trauma and anxiety of many different types. My personal style is typically direct and practical with an element of humor to help maintain perspective. Initially, the focus of my experience was on the treatment of trauma. Since then, I have expanded into assisting others in continuing their personal evolution despite the difficulties that anxiety, depression, and relationship issues can present. Despite any condition, I believe that it is possible to continue in our personal growth.

As a certified sex therapist, I have extensive training and experience working with individuals and couples presenting with sexuality related concerns. Due to the range of factors that influence sexual functioning and satisfaction, I often collaborate with other health professionals (urologists, gynecologists, physical therapists) to maximize treatment progress. Does it sometimes feel like you are not living the life you thought that you would? Or that you could be more content with your situation? Or perhaps you are having trouble making decisions about what to do next? If so, therapy can help you clarify what is important to you and what is causing you to feel stuck. I am happy to work together with you to better understand your past while also finding new ways of moving forward in a meaningful way. I am experienced in addressing issues related to anxiety, worry, role transitions, loss, anger, parenting, relationship difficulties, and career contentment. I enjoy learning about each client's individual strengths and values and using those as a focus of treatment rather than solely focusing on what is "wrong" or in need of fixing. Sometimes a specific issue is causing difficulty and sometimes it seems as if something is just not "right." Maybe you have sought treatment before or maybe this is the first time you are contacting a counselor. That's ok. Therapy can help you define what is bothering you and together we can explore solutions to help you feel confident and productive again.

I believe that relationships are fundamental to a person's health and happiness. Whether romantic, interpersonal, peer, parent-child, or work relationships I have found that the issues people bring to therapy stem from difficulties in connecting. Furthermore, I believe that a safe, open, and honest relationship in therapy is the key to personal mental health and creating healthy relationship's in one's life. I do interpersonal therapy with individuals, couples, and groups. In particular, I enjoy connecting with young men starting their careers, gamers, and adolescent boys. I received extensive clinical training from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. I have helped adolescents who have struggled with depression, feeling isolated, been bullied, having divorced parents, and other issues. I also have led anger management groups and therapy for men, couples, and individuals with multiple learning disabilities. A solid relationship between you and therapist is the strongest indicator of positive change. I welcome and encourage feedback from clients to create a safe and healing environment. I understand how entering therapy and finding a therapist is a daunting task, and I wish to accompany you on that journey.

Sometime we all feel unhappy, stressed, confused, or "stuck." Talking to an empathic and experienced therapist may be your first step toward developing new insights about positive change. My therapeutic approach is to encourage you to talk about your concerns openly in a confidential and safe environment where you will not be judged. A major benefit of therapy is to provide you with a second point-of-view on your personal material--a perspective other than your own. This process provides you with new ways to think about your choices and behaviors, and frees you to achieve your goals. I love working with clients who want to make their lives more joyful. I welcome clients from all walks of life, cultures, and backgrounds. I have worked with people on the LGBTQI spectrum throughout my career, even before those letters were meaningfully combined.
