I have adopted a mind-body-spiritual focus while working on issues related to trauma, anxiety, depression and addictions. I try to get each client to strive for balance among all aspects of their daily lives while trying to heal themselves from within. Adults and adolescents with anxiety and eating disorders with trauma histories resulting in addictive behaviors has been my primary focus. My goal is to assist clients in developing strong assertiveness skills through which self-empowerment and a sense of identity can emerge. I strive to help clients to desensitize the level of intensity, both emotionally and physically, so that they can break the re-experiencing of deep past internal pain, which further keeps the addictive cycles present in their lives. I have also obtained an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) from the Psypact Commission. By obtaining this authorization, this serves to show that I have met all requirements to be eligible to provide interjurisdictional services under the authority of Psypact (Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact).

As an evidence-based therapist, I utilize current research & clients' values & goals to work collaboratively with clients throughout the treatment process. Many clients who seek me out are looking for assistance with stress, trauma, anxiety, or pain reduction & often have tried therapy before & are looking for something different. I also see many therapists, educators, & healthcare professionals in my practice. In addition to standard CBT and other evidence-based practices, I have expertise in mindfulness-based interventions & EMDR. My style is interactive and trauma-sensitive, and I honor where a client is throughout the process. My specialties include stress management, women’s issues (fertility, new mothers, sandwich generation, menopause, & aging), chronic medical conditions, interventions for pain management, & anxiety disorders. I am also a professor of social work, a speaker & a published researcher. I integrate all my sources of knowledge to help clients achieve their goals. If you are beginning therapy for the first time or trying again, please know that it is a sign of your tremendous strength! Often the toughest part is reaching out and being willing to try something new or perhaps beginning again. I know that it can be difficult to share your story. I will treat you with the care, compassion, and respect that you deserve.

You function well in your career, you’re responsible, and you are a motivated person. On the surface, it seems like you have everything together. Nobody would guess you struggle with depression, anxiety, or self-doubt. It’s easy to think that things aren’t that bad when you seem to function so well. But you are also tired of living this way and you know things could be better. If you want to learn to calm your nervous system, sleep better, feel more comfortable in body, and function better at work and at home, I can help you. I work with people who struggle with depression, anxiety, and bulimia as well as people who have experienced trauma, including trauma from unnecessary gender medicine interventions. I offer exploratory therapy, including EMDR, mindfulness, and body-based interventions. I work best with adults aged 25-50. If you are interested in getting treatment for your anxiety, depression, or past traumatic experiences please contact me. I look forward to meeting you.

My original purpose in becoming a psychologist was to understand how to help children who are hurting. I serve children and adolescents who are struggling with a wide variety of concerns, often trauma, depression, anxiety, or self-injury. Of course this also involves support and guidance for their parents. I enjoy using this same developmental perspective to help adults who are struggling with the impact their childhood now has on them, for instance addressing codependency, boundaries, or experiences of childhood abuse. It is a joy to see clients discovering and blossoming into who they are created to be. I have specialized training in infant mental health, early childhood issues, and attachment disorders, so I see very young children and work with both parents and kids of all ages around adoption issues and complex developmental trauma. I am also trained in EMDR, a certain therapy approach particularly suited to addressing negative life events. My style is warm, relaxed, and direct. Thanks to a master's degree in theology through Fuller Seminary and 12 years experience at the Meier Clinics, I am skilled at providing spiritually integrated care from a Christian perspective. I love to see clients connecting with God in new ways.
