I use a variety of techniques to match the needs of each client throughout each session. I primarily use DBT, ACT, and IFS therapeutic modalities. These techniques emphasize mindfulness, personal strengths, resilience, and choice. Additionally, I use compassion and explore my clients’ values to gently challenge them to find more effective ways of getting their needs met. At times I use improv, humor, and a conversational and dynamic therapeutic style to create a judgment-free, supportive, and safe environment; disarming the self-critic; and allowing my clients to express themselves freely. The clients that benefit the most from this approach are adults who who have experienced an emotionally chaotic childhood, emotionally sensitive individuals, and clients who struggle with connecting with others, managing their anxiety, and/or depressive symptoms. A new men's group has opened utilizing Minecraft and other groups will be opening up soon. For more information, please feel free to visit my practice website: reflective-counseling.com or contact me directly via email.

Are you or someone you love questioning gender? Are you or someone you love needing support with your transition processes? Are you transgender or non-binary and have had challenges finding an affirming, trans-competent provider? I am a queer trans-man with years of experience working with children, teens, and adults who are transgender, gender diverse, or questioning their gender, and their family members. Whether you are seeking therapy related to your gender or not, and whatever challenges have brought you to therapy, I am here to listen and to help you reach your full potential. No matter what brings you or your family to therapy, working with a trans-affirming, trans-competent therapist who "gets it," who is knowledgeable in the challenges that transgender and non-binary individuals, couples, and families may face, and who is accepting and supportive of all people, makes the therapeutic relationship process easier. I help individuals develop new identities, navigate their relationships, and attend to their mental health needs as they or their loved ones transition to new gender identities or expressions. Living at the intersectionality of one or more marginalized identities is to live a life with the constant necessity to protect your space, affirm your worth, and embrace intentionality in your day-to-day living experience. It also requires the intentional avoidance of internalized self-hatred, expected assimilation, and hypervigilance for your safety in efforts to live a life full of purpose, peace, and inner-fulfillment. Society's intentional assault to the body and mind has damaged individual and collective wellness and resulted in the separation from ones true identity. It is time to reconnect, rediscover, & heal. The Urban Institute of Mental Health is a mental health practice created to bring individual and collective healing to BIPOC, LGBQTIA+, and other marginalized populations. Our approach to delivering effective and culturally affirming therapy includes using specific intervention techniques and treatment modalities to destigmatize and decolonize mental health. Making the first step to healing is the hardest, yet most courageous decision you will ever make. Difficult because living in the continual state of self-hatred has become the unhealthy norm for marginalized identities. We unconsciously resist change because we do not know what to expect. Courageous because your healing is collective healing for everyone.
