I have been working as a licensed therapist since 2016, but have been working with people for over 13 years. I have experience working with a diverse group of clients, with a wide range of treatment needs. Facing life’s difficulties can be overwhelming. I am here to provide a confidential environment where therapy is a collaborative process. It is my goal to help my clients gain the necessary tools to aid in healing and a positive mindset. It is my belief that mental health and physical health work hand-in-hand with neither one more important than the other. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, families, couples, and adults. I specialize in issues such as anxiety, depression, OCD, ODD, ADHD, parent/child relational issues, gender dysphoria, and dual-diagnoses. As a person-centered therapist, I strongly feel it is important that I provide a safe, nonjudgmental place for people to express themselves openly. I take pride in being direct, while also being kind and honest with my clients.

I often tell my clients that finding a therapist is like buying a new pair of shoes; sometimes you have to try on a few different sizes and styles before you find the best fit. My style is empathic and understanding, yet straight-forward and honest. I help my clients get unstuck and move forward, while providing feedback that is productive and manageable. You and I can work together to come up with ways to meet your goals for therapy, along with acquiring insight into your behaviors, thoughts, and feelings. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Supervisor and my specialties include Eating Disorders and Trauma. I have worked in the eating disorder field since 2010 and have almost completed basic EMDR training. This has allowed me to conceptualize cases in a different way and provide support to a wide-range of clients. I have worked with patients in Psychiatric Hospitals and Partial Hospitalization Programs. I have also worked in Day Treatment and Intensive Outpatient Treatment programs for young adults struggling with Eating Disorders. I am an active member of IAEDP, the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.

Based on my broad experience in higher education, Federal EAP's and law enforcement/national security settings, I have observed that many people are "too well-adapted for their own good". Caretaking others, performing above expectations, and appearing just fine while their physical or emotional health is being eroded by chronic stress or unhealthy coping mechanisms. In an initial phone consultation, I try to help prospective clients define and clarify their reasons for seeking help. I then provide recommendations regarding counseling, psychotherapy, or other support or treatment options in the person's best interest. I am an empathic and highly engaged therapist who can help you gain insight and make desired changes, i.e., socially, interpersonally, vocationally. This process typically balances useful cognitive/behavioral strategies; energy psychology methods to diffuse stress; and gentle exploration of any unresolved traumas, losses, or family-of-origin dynamics. I am committed to understanding and genuinely meeting clients' needs in a holistic, integrated way. Beyond psychotherapy, I can provide issue-specific counseling or coaching to help navigate many life challenges. I am also well-versed in the 12-step self-help model & can bolster relapse prevention efforts for those already established in alcohol recovery.
