I specialize in addressing a wide range of relationship and emotion-related issues including depression, anxiety, grief, and particularly trauma (childhood, sexual, race-based, combat, and other). I have experience working with adults of all ages, including LGBTQ+ populations, clients from varied racial, ethnic, and cultural identities, as well as current and former military. I’m also engaged in advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy as part of my residency at Psychology Specialists of Maine. My practice is rooted in culturally responsive relational, psychodynamic, and attachment-based perspectives, which incorporates cognitive-behavioral and emotion-focused interventions as well. I help clients develop greater insight, self-understanding, and self-compassion by exploring the way they relate to themselves, their emotions, and others. I feel incredibly privileged to continue that learning and growth in tandem with my clients. I see the therapy relationship as providing the safety and consistency necessary for clients to feel free to show up as their true and full selves. I make it my priority to establish strong trusting relationships using a warm, transparent, and collaborative approach.

I work with adults providing individual, group, and couples therapy and conducting ADHD assessments. My first priority is cultivating a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you feel truly seen and heard. Therapy is a collaborative partnership, and we will work together towards goals that are meaningful for you. My work often involves helping clients increase self-acceptance, develop self-regulation skills, overcome fear/avoidance, and live more authentic, fulfilling lives. I absolutely love helping people shake off the shackles of “I should” and move towards what they truly want and need for themselves. I have experience working with clients across the lifespan who are dealing with a variety of challenges. I specialize in working with individuals seeking therapy for ADHD, stress and anxiety, identity development, and relationship concerns. I draw on evidence-based interventions, with foundations CBT, ACT, learning theory, and mindfulness. My approach prioritizes identifying and altering patterns that are impacting your day-to-day life right now, however, it is often helpful to understand how these patterns developed and were reinforced over time. Once we can accept our past, we are better able to fully experience the present.

Current openings for August DBT group. DBT groups are recommended if you experience longstanding difficulties with managing emotions, such as intense negative emotions, emotional lability, suicidal and suicidal thoughts and behaviors, difficulty tolerating distress, and/or related problems in relationships. DBT is not recommended if you have prominent psychotic symptoms (e.g., diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder or schizophrenia), current alcohol or substance abuse, or significant cognitive or intellectual impairments as these symptoms may interfere with the capacity to learn and implement DBT skills. View 5 Photos All clients in our DBT groups must meet at least twice monthly with an individual therapist who is the primary point of contact and must commit to handling all crises. Clients must also be willing to commit to a 9-month course of skills group, including weekly attendance, completion of assigned homework, and active participation in group meetings. I do not have openings for individual therapy at this time but I recommend psychologists at Psychology Specialists of Maine. Please click the website link to make an appointment with a psychologist in our office.

Romantic relationships are tricky, if not treacherous. We long to feel important and understood and we expect love and intimacy to last a lifetime. But so often, our love relationships leave us feeling wounded, disillusioned, and discouraged. While there is never a guarantee of safety or security in relationships, there is the real possibility for depth, comfort, connection, and radiant joy. Couples therapy helps us confront the heal the deep wounds, discover new parts of ourselves, and find a safe haven in our relationships. Intensive Couples Therapy is a short-term, in-depth and focused approach to helping couples in distress. View 12 Photos Our center offers therapists trained in several couple therapy modalities, including two psychologists certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), one trained in the Gottman method, one with advanced training in Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT), and skilled postdoctoral residents training in these methods. We also offer Intensive Couples Therapy. The journey begins with a 2-hour consultation in-person or online. If scheduled for a 2-day intensive, couples are guided to deep levels of experiencing and work intensely over 2 days together. This approach to couples therapy frequently leads to lasting changes, often preferred over months of weekly therapy.
