My practice is unusual in that I recognize that the dominant social paradigm in the United States expects a person to be 'well adjusted', even in the face of cultural, social, and political forces that tend to militate against wellness. I work well with adults and adolescents whose experience is that they just don't seem to fit the mold. I recognize the value in every person, and believe that freedom and contentment are available to all who seek them. Being human is hard, and the path through adversity, pain, and even suffering CAN be found and navigated. I am, at heart, a pragmatist. If what you want and need is help working through a specific problem, I am well-versed in Cognitive Behavioral and Brief Solution-Focused approaches. If you are ready for a more thorough examination of your inner life, I am also a big fan of existential approaches to psychotherapy. Stoic philosophy is also an interest. Raised in Maine, I went to college in Vermont, served in the US Army as a combat medic briefly, and moved to New Mexico for graduate school where I lived for 23 years. My family returned to Maine in 2021 where I serve with the local volunteer fire department and as an EMT. Licensed in both NM and ME, I provide telemedicine and phone sessions to clients.

Getting through high school, dealing with family and friends and "real life", can make you feel stuck and sometimes hopeless. Lots of teens and new adults do not know what to do when their mental health isn’t great or how to handle life and emotions day-to-day. AND this is a time when life gets harder, you are expected to “grow up”, and when mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder can show up in a big way. Turning to family may not have always been a great place to get support, and many teens and young adults want a safe person, and a safe place, to talk about their lives and emotions. I am a social worker with over fourteen years of experience helping teens and their families. I am skilled in working with clients one-on-one with mental health issues (anxiety, depression, self-esteem, mood disorders) common in adolescence, with a specialty in trauma and relationships. Most of the time my work with teens involves talking, trying out new skills to see what feels right, and taking a new look at someone’s sense of self now that they are growing up. Whether you’ve tried therapy before, are thinking about trying therapy for the first time, or someone else thinks therapy could help, you can contact me here to find out more.

I'm sorry, I am not accepting new clients. Hi, I'm Hannah! It can feel challenging to think about starting therapy and overwhelming to know what brings you or your family to seek support. What I know about therapy is that the best fit is usually based on the relationship between the therapist and the client (you). A lot of the time therapy is about how you feel talking to and sitting with that person. I look forward to connecting with you regarding office based therapy or Ecotherapy. Ecotherapy is about healing with nature, connecting to the environment and often takes place outdoors. I am experienced with children, teens, and adults. I have a background in family therapy and am certified in ecopsychology. I approach my work from a humanistic lens and incorporate expressive arts, psychodynamic, and solutions focused modalities. I have experience working with trauma, attachment, depression, anxiety, transitions, ADHD and LGBTQIA+ clients. My focus is to help you connect, evolve, expand, and become aware of your strengths and skills. Whether you choose to meet in the office or outdoors I provide a grounding safe space, listen to your hopes, goals, struggles and work to meet you where you are at. We will create a plan to help you meet your goals and find a path toward healing.
