My experience working with a diverse population of families, couples and individuals of all ages has led me to adopt and practice with a relational, client-centered and strengths-based approach. This follows my observations that individuals have internalized resources, wisdom and capacity for resilience that are often unrecognized or repressed. Strengthening those parts of the self provide the most enduring and transformative healing experiences. I also believe a critical component of my work with clients is helping them understand the brain/body connection, and how to utilize this understanding to manage symptoms and responses. Much of my training has been geared toward developing a competency in working with complicated grief, traumatic loss and chronic and acute trauma/PTSD. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, accepted, heard and empowered throughout the process, increasing awareness and understanding of grief and trauma reactions in self and others. I am an EMDR Certified Clinician, trained Psychological First Aid Responder, active member of the Medical Reserve Corps and have specialized and advanced training in reproductive mental health and pregnancy loss and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing.

I am a compassionate, humorous and enthusiastic therapist with my master’s degree in counseling psychology, licensed in Minnesota as a professional clinical counselor. It wasn’t until I discovered the healing power of the mind, body, and spirit approach that I saw lasting change and healing in myself and in my clients. I am client centered, radically non-judgmental, authentic, and honest. I believe in meeting each individual where they are and joining together on a path to growth. I am strongly influenced by Sensorimotor Psychotherapy which focuses on the link between our bodies and our psychological wellbeing. My areas of specialty include: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Domestic Violence, and helping clients who wish to strengthen communication skills and build healthy relationships. I am accepting clients on a case by case basis. New clients must be self motivated to participate in therapy and have a willingness to examine their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Making the decision to make an appointment for therapy can be overwhelming and choosing a therapist can be a daunting process. Whether you have never seen a therapist or have been engaged in therapy for years consider coming in for a meeting. I will not pressure you or judge you. I simply welcome you to include me in your wellness journey.

I am a certified clinical supervisor with the Minnesota BBHT. Promoting self-awareness, compassion and self-empowerment is central to my approach. I am also sensitive to culture, race and gender issues, having lived in Europe, Africa and Asia. I taught Social Psychology of Gender, and Stereotypes, Prejudice & Discrimination at Eugene Lange College in New York and am passionate about promoting social justice from the inside out, through self-awareness and compassion, to heal internalized racism/sexism.

Do you look at your partner and get the sense you're "just roommates"? Is your gut telling you he's not "just friends" with that co-worker? Has your sex life lost its luster? So many people struggle in their relationships, and it's so sad, because there IS something you can do. Yes, it's scary to ask for help, and you might not want others to know things aren't going well. But doing nothing only means the problems will get bigger. Instead of ignoring the problems until they're too big to fix, get help now. Some couples are committed to repairing the relationship; others are looking for guidance on how to part ways, and to do it amicably - for their sake as well as for the kids. I can help. "Just as we start getting into the real issues, our therapist is wrapping up the session." This won't happen with me. I do 90-minute sessions when working with couples and individuals. This gives us the time we need to really work through the issues at hand.

My clients are teens and adults who experience challenges with healing from difficult and stressful experiences, navigating family and relationship dynamics, setting boundaries and communication with others, overthinking, keeping up with high expectations, and navigating oppressive systems. I value trauma-informed, client-centered, and culturally-responsive approaches that allow me to meet you where you’re at in your journey. I strive to honor your needs, identities, and experiences to tailor therapy in a way that best fits you. Starting therapy and finding a therapist may feel intimidating, frustrating, or confusing. I am happy to answer any questions you have, whether this is your first time pursuing therapy or your second+! Please feel free to email me with any questions, to schedule a free 15-minute online consultation, and/or to start therapy!
