Carl Rogers stated "People are just as wonderful as sunsets...I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.” This encapsulates my approach to counseling. I am a PLPC approaching therapy from a person-centered perspective, meaning I want to cater to your needs through empathetic listening and understanding without judgment. I want to be a resource for you to grant extra support in your time of need and allow you to have a place to discuss topics which have not been explored in this manner previously. People would describe me as compassionate, nurturing, funny, authentic, and relatable. My interests revolve around gender identity, sexuality concerns, and psychotic symptoms. I have experience working with mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder), anxiety, trauma, kids (I the most experience with children ages 6+), substance use concerns, and psychotic disorders (schizophrenia and psychosis).

I am accepting new patients at Comprehensive Gastrointestinal Health (CGH) in Northbrook, IL, and in private practice in Missouri and Illinois via telehealth. At CGH, I practice gut-directed hypnotherapy for IBS, Esophageal disorders, and other disorders of the mind-gut axis. In private practice, I see individuals, couples, and families looking to improve their mental health and overall well-being. I use an integrative approach to counseling that involves a systemic, contextual view of clients’ lives. Drawing from Positive Psychology, Narrative Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness CBT, and other scientifically-based approaches including Clinical Hypnosis and Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy, Positive Psychology (PP) is the "science of what works." It is the study of characteristics that help people flourish. PP focuses on increasing optimism, gratitude, engagement, meaning and purpose. PP does not ignore problems: it is a scientifically-based approach toward increasing well-being and helping people face life's challenges in a healthy manner.

Currently accepting new clients. Many people come to me because they feel stuck in old cycles in their relationships, in their work, or in their own mind. They want to get out of them, but they're not sure how. Many people I work with have been in therapy before and learned cognitive or mindfulness skills that, while helpful, don't seem to go quite deep enough. Often they feel frustrated because they don't know why they keep repeating the same behaviors or feeling the same way despite all of their best efforts. View 4 Photos I can help you figure out your "why." When we discover the unconscious meanings and motivations we've been carrying around with us, we often find that we have a new flexibility where we've previously felt stuck. The relationship we build with one another can help by providing new experiences that, when combined with new insights, can facilitate growth. I can help you fully inhabit yourself. I am attentive and attuned to my clients in a way that inspires introspection and fosters multifaceted growth. I strive to see and understand not only who my clients are now, but who they have been, and who they are in the process of becoming. If you would like to talk, please reach out for a consultation.

It is the "silly season". Are you feeling joyful, grateful and organized? Or are you stressed, irritable or depressed? This time of year brings up so many conflicting emotions and feelings even in the same hour! Sometimes memories come up and out of the blue we feel overwhelmed and sad. Expectations can create disappointment and even resentment. You just want to be able to enjoy or even just "survive" the season but have too many things coming at you. It feels impossible to clear your head and find a way to do that. Imagine clearing all the clutter in you mind and releasing the unwanted tension or sadness. Now you can breath. I can help you. I can help you figure out what might bring you relief NOW as well as find a path to keeping it that way. I see adults, motivated teens, couples and families go toward growth or to relieve distress. I interweave the current issue with coping skills, psycho education, kindness, humor when appropriate ,compassion and a great deal of expertise . I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist replacing thoughts that cause distress and create unhelpful behaviors and feelings. I use a top down and bottom up approach to eliminate the most distressing issue while building a growth mindset to hook onto and build hope and motivation. I am trained in many other therapies which I am glad to discuss further .
