I have been in the mental health field for over 20 years providing therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. I believe that all people have a desire to improve their life. Through my counseling services, clients are provided tools to empower and understand themselves, as well as, improve their relationship with others. When clients are provided empathetic listening, and effective interpersonal skills to deal with anger, stress, and communicate more effectively, success is a given and a healthier person arises. I specialize in therapy for depression, trauma, anxiety, couples and family counseling, and parenting support.

My ideal client would be a person who is motivated for change, however one of my main specialties is the ablilty to work with unmotivated and even hostile clients who have been court ordered or adolescents who are forced to come by their parents. I can work with a client on a myriad of issues including anixiety, depression, low self-esteem, complusions and addictions. I am a licensed IMAGO couples therapist and enjoy working with couples who are in crisis. I have over 30 years experience working with substance abusers both adult and adolescent populations. Because of my extensive experience with area school systems and I the fact that I have raised 2 sons, I am a parenting expert. Our practice is located in a renovated house that was built in 1939. Clients constantly state that is it as if they are visiting someones home instead of having an appointment at a cold clinical office building. We have 2 male and 2 female therapists on staff whose combined specialities can deal with almost any issue.

Do you struggle with anxiety? Do you have a moody teenager that needs some guidance? Do you sometimes get sad for no apparent reason? Do you have family conflicts that are driving you crazy? I would love to help you and your family navigate through these concerns. In therapy I use Internal Family Systems because I have found this modality to be an effective way to build a stronger sense of self. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which is helpful for anxiety, OCD, depression or parenting issues. I have a Masters of Arts in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary which helps me to integrate my Christian faith with secular psychology.

I believe everyone deserves a space to process, heal, and experience empathy and validation. Good outcomes in therapy can be expected if you feel the therapist genuinely cares and has your best interest in heart and mind. Your therapist must also have skill, knowledge, and experience with clinically proven therapy techniques. I provide both to you as my client. I offer an integrated approach that includes EMDR, person-centered, CBT, DBT skills, and trauma focused treatment; however, our time together is not limited to these theories of practice. I understand that often words cannot describe what a person is feeling internally, and expressive therapies have the power to communicate what words often cannot. Together, we can explore the barriers that are keeping you from living the life you want. Most importantly, I will support you on your journey toward wellness - whatever that may look like. I am regularly accompanied by Prudence, my certified therapy dog. I offer supervision services for LCSWA's.
