I provide faith-based counseling for people who want to find help and hope for life's problems. I am glad to work with anyone age 13 and over, but I focus on adult individuals and couples. I have a special interest in counseling and coaching men. I work with people on issues of grief, anxiety, depression, self-image, marriage, pre-marital, stress, perfectionism, vocation/career, spiritual crisis, and spiritual/religious abuse. Even though I am faith-based, I can work respectfully with anyone from any background without forcing my beliefs on them. I bring eighteen years of experience of caring for people as a pastor into my practice as a counselor. Being faith-based means that I bring together the best of psychology and theology to care for people who are struggling with problems in their emotions, thoughts, behaviors, relationships, and faith. My aim is to give hope to hurting people by getting to the heart of life's problems. I am careful to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for people to work through their pain, problems, and questions. I would be honored to walk with you through whatever you are experiencing. Reach out to me and let's talk.

I have had the privilege of providing therapy in Wilmington, North Carolina, since 1996. I love being a therapist and enjoy connecting with individuals and families. I believe that growth and healing is fostered in an environment of kindness, compassion, curiosity, and acceptance. We all experience times when we are thrown off course and could benefit from a compassionate voice to help us identify our needs and purpose. Sometimes one small step can lead to a beautiful transformation of how we feel and see ourselves. I have several areas of interest ranging from helping kids with anxiety to supporting adults with big changes such as shifting careers, divorce or co-parenting. Figuring out what we want and need is an important therapeutic endeavor. I am flexible in my approach to meet the needs of the individual. Developing a deeper sense of well-being is at the core. I like Carl Rogers' quote, "Therapy is not about doing something to the individual, or of inducing him to do something about himself. It is instead a matter of freeing him for normal growth and development, of removing obstacles so that he again can move forward."

I believe therapy is a way to enrich life and develop connection in a space with compassion and free of judgment. My methods involve treating the whole person, mind, body & spirit. I believe it is important to identify and process emotion, non-verbal communication, somatic expressions and subconscious processes. Memories play a part in how our brains process and store meaning to life. Misinterpreted meaning sometimes becomes internalized and leaves us with unwanted thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. As we work together we process those memories leaving undesired mind/body connections behind. I provide teletherapy services only. I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I also integrate Internal Family Systems parts work to find the maladaptive thoughts and beliefs your past has developed in you. You’ve already taken a big step towards your healing journey just by being here. Please feel free to reach out via email, phone, or text whichever feels most comfortable for you. I try to return all messages within 1 business day.

As humans, we sometimes find ourselves stuck. We might feel stuck in painful circumstances, in old and outdated patterns of behaviors, or with narratives that just don't feel true to us anymore. This is part of what it means to be human and yet being human also implies an innate potential for evolution and growth. Together, from a place of centeredness, I work with my clients to get in touch with the present moment, determine what really, truly matters to them, and identify how to move forward in life in a meaningful and intentional way. My therapeutic work focuses on mindfulness, acceptance, empowerment, radical self-compassion, and values exploration. I care deeply about my clients feeling seen and helping them to see themselves with honesty and compassion. Therapy with me is a collaborative effort in which we meet together to find space from pain and foster meaningful change. Reaching out for help is the often the hardest part of seeking meaningful change. I admire the courage it took for you land where you are today. If you think we might work well together, I encourage you to please send me a message. Let's be human together.
