Traumatic experiences exact a heavy toll, and not just in the moment. Symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD (CPTSD) can last for weeks, months, even years after the event. I would be honored to walk the path of healing with you, supporting you as you reclaim your vitality and establish a genuine sense of connection with yourself, others, your body, and your soul. While my therapeutic approach is eclectic, Somatic Experiencing is foundational to my work. SE is a body-oriented and naturalistic approach to the resolution and healing of trauma, developed by Dr. Peter Levine. By supporting you to connect with your body and develop trust in its innate capacity to heal, we can access and address the trauma that lingers in your nervous system. This allows you to work through painful feelings of anger, guilt, or shame, as well as somatic symptoms like headaches, chronic pain, digestive distress, and sleep difficulties. My clients have included adults abused as children, domestic and sexual violence survivors, veterans, first responders, those leaving high-control groups, incarcerated offenders, and LGBTQ+ people, among others. It takes a great deal of courage to reach out for help; for that, I commend you. I look forward to partnering with you on your healing journey.

In addition to providing traditional talk therapy, I am one of only two Certified Bioenergetic Therapists in NJ. This cutting-edge form of body-centered psychotherapy involves tapping into the body’s own wisdom through techniques such as breathing, grounding, and centering. Research shows that traumatic stress has little to do with cognition—it emanates from the emotional part of the brain, which is accessed through the body. I have spent more than ten years studying and applying this specialized form of psychotherapy and find deep satisfaction in helping others receive its benefits. I also specialize in neurofeedback, which involves a balancing of the nervous system through a form of brain training. Many people are simply not aware that they may be in a chronic state of general restlessness; stress has become a way of life. When people finally feel what it is like to have a more relaxed nervous system, the shift can be life-changing. If you are seeking relief from issues related to anxiety, depression, panic attacks, addiction, OCD, ADHD, trauma, or grief, please reach out to me.

Our weight-obsessed culture chastises and shames you, as though your body size is not only a personal moral failing, but a reliable indicator of poor health. Over time, you started internalizing this anti-fat bias, and often treat yourself with the same level of contempt. You either avoid seeking medical care altogether, or expose yourself to the risk of weight stigma (far more harmful than any presumed adverse effect of your weight itself). You forgot how to nourish yourself – sometimes forbidding yourself food, sometimes isolating in shame for a binge, sometimes "paying" via purge. But friend, you are meant to bloom - not shrink. View 4 Photos I know this may be difficult to believe right now, but you are already lovely, wise, and worthy of much more in life. I’ll hold that thought for you as you relearn it, and we use it as the foundation of our work. From there, we’ll integrate cognitive behavioral strategies with EMDR to gain insights from the present to heal your old wounds once and for all. You deserve to fully enjoy, nourish, and be at peace with your body. Learn to better understand your thoughts and emotions, and stop wasting energy on what others think. Explore the root causes of the shame you've been taught, and work to move past it – your deepest self longs to be known. Call me now for your free consultation, and let’s get started today!

I am incredibly passionate about accompanying couples on their journey. As a practitioner for over 20 years, what continues to inspire my work is witnessing the incredible power of therapy on people’s lives. Working alongside couples to identify patterns that obstruct the flow of understanding, empathy, and love is a top priority of my approach. Because couples work is collaborative, my role as a therapist is to help strengthen the couple’s capacity to repair conflict even and especially outside of therapy. View 7 Photos On that note, I’m honored and privileged to specifically support clients repair painful wounds (new or historical) and identify the blind spots and communication patterns that hinder understanding. Most importantly, my aim is to assist couples in gaining new tools to manage and repair conflict to lessen the frequency, intensity, and duration of conflict. My work is attachment-based and emotionally-focused. I take an authentic, non-judgmental approach that is personalized to each client's needs and is free of trend-driven techniques. Overall, my work is based on neuropsychology and years of research on how we understand attachment, relationships, communication, healing, and love.

Life is filled with many opportunities as well as challenges. My goal is to help children and adolescents recognize and seize those opportunities and overcome any challenges and obstacles that get in their way. By helping them create a positive mindset, build effective coping strategies, and expand their repertoire of problem-solving skills, they can live a healthy, satisfying, and successful social and academic life. The earlier these skills are cultivated within the child or adolescent, the greater the opportunities to practice and utilize them to their benefit. Please visit my website: www.childresilience.com Are you frustrated that no one has been successful in helping your child? My strength-based approach combines comprehensive assessment with evidenced-based interventions. I identify giftedness, learning difficulties, cognitive strengths/weaknesses, social-emotional and behavioral problems, and personality characteristics. Interventions include academic and organization strategies, play therapy, CBT, behavior management, and stress reduction/mindfulness. I am an Adjunct Associate Professor of Pediatrics and the past Associate Director at the Institute for the Study of Child Development of Rutgers RWJ Medical School. The primitive brain can take over, when it does we can be harsh on ourselves and carry feelings like an anchor. When one area of our life is off, it impacts others areas like a leaky faucet too slow to notice and life begins to flood. We know to swim to survive but don't think float to save our energy. This struggle leads to exhaustion and a series of emotions that create new issues. Hurt people; hurt people. Becoming present & reflecting, leads to peace.
