Anger can be one of the most difficult emotions to navigate. Out of control anger is surprisingly common. It can affect our relationships, careers, and even our health. Anger is a normal human emotion. I can show you how to use anger in a constructive, relationship building way as opposed to suppressing it or being out of control. I can show you how smart your anger is, through emotional management counseling. Most importantly, I don’t want you to give up your anger. I use a Psychoanalytic approach which basically means a kind of talk therapy that explores things you may be doing unconsciously, which may have a significant impact on the way you feel and behave. Some of these unconscious things may have led you to seek help, as you are aware of a problem, but not quite sure how you got to that point. The goal is to seek mindfulness by bringing processes that you are unaware of to the surface, then help you get into the driver's seat to your emotions rather than you letting your emotions drive you out of control. This is the staple of my approach to helping you work towards mental wellness. This is done with patience, empathy, understanding, and kindness.

I enjoy working with individuals throughout the lifespan, from ages 5 to 105. My experience as a school psychologist has given me an understanding of the challenges of both being and parenting a child with special needs, as well as navigating life as an adult with a disability or chronic health condition. I also have experience in working with clients suffering from depression, grief/loss, anxiety, trauma, panic attacks, and phobias. I have a special interest in working with clients who are neurodivergent and those who identify as LGBTQIA. I am primarily trained in cognitive behavioral therapy but also have training in psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and somatic techniques. My approach to therapy is tailored to each individual client and your needs and goals, but is always trauma-informed. I also abide by HAES principles and support all of my clients in body positivity. I believe in a person's ability to grow and change, and I see my role as a therapist as a person to help guide you through any challenges you are facing. Together we can address any unhelpful or problematic thoughts, patterns, or behaviors you might be stuck in and work on improving your overall quality of life despite any barriers in your way.
