My passion is helping young adults and adults heal from a variety of issues that leave them feeling disconnected from themselves and others, sad, lonely, and often fearful. These issues can interfere with living happy, authentic, and fulfilled lives. I am dedicated to helping those struggling to develop healthier coping mechanisms and learning new skills, including new thought patterns, recognizing body cues and listening to them, and adjusting behaviors not aligned with their values and belief systems. My clients are those who are tired of struggling, know there is a better life for them, and know they can have the life they desire. My clients often have experienced trauma, complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, interpersonal relationship difficulty, parenting issues, divorce, stress, career/vocational struggles, and adjustment issues. The therapeutic relationship is a very important element of our sessions. I strive to meet the individual needs of each client and I believe in assessing all areas of life and how they affect one’s mental health. I utilize evidence-based treatments for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy along with mindfulness and other holistic approaches to help my clients achieve their goals and align with their authentic selves. You and I are a team and, at times, therapy can be overwhelming. I am here to make the process as compassionate as possible and try to insert humor when appropriate. My clients are active participants in the healing process and are ready to make changes in their lives.

I truly believe we all have the potential for health and healing. Life can be painful. Therapy doesn't have to be. Many people see therapy as one-sided, with little opportunity for interaction. I can promise you that I am as real as it gets! Calling a therapist can be intimidating, but I hope you will take a moment (and maybe a deep breath) to call and see how I can help. I offer judgement free, trauma informed care. I focus on your goals and needs through person centered skill building, trauma work, and mindfulness. I am trained in EMDR therapy and utilize this with clients who are interested, as well as other techniques listed in my profile. If you are interested in beginning or continuing your healing journey, I would love to hear from you. I know the first step can feel big or scary, and I honor that you would be willing to take it with me. Please reach out if you would like to learn more about this process, or to see if I might be a good fit for you.

I view therapy as a journey, helping to align the inner and outer worlds of individuals through non-judgement, authenticity, and positive regard. In doing so, I value the interpersonal and relational process and strive to help individuals empower themselves and bring harmony to their environment. I find that the urge to reach out, to help people find strength in, with and through their fragility and societal limitations drives my therapeutic work. My areas of professional interest include relationship concerns, conflict resolution, stress (personal and professional), anxiety management, work related issues, women’s issues, multicultural and diversity issues, group process, socio-cultural-political influences on well-being, and cardiac psychology. I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and our work has the potential to contribute to your sense of purpose, identity, meaning, value and well-being. While you may not be able to change the past, you have the ability to write a new narrative of our own choosing. Let's reflect, refresh, reframe, and reset in this therapeutic alliance.

People can heal from trauma. But you don't have to do this alone. People pleasing, relationship stress, anger, chronic pain, addictions, shame, insecurity; just a few ways trauma tends to show itself in your life. When people decide to get curious about how the wounding moments in life have impacted their self-worth and worldview, then healing can occur. You deserve to heal. And you deserve support through this process. I help people let go of shame, rediscover who they are, and find reasons to smile again. I would be honored to help discover what healing looks like for you, should you choose to no longer travel that path alone. I specialize in therapies beyond traditional talk therapy. If you've found limited symptom relief from talk therapy, perhaps consider something new. I'm an EMDR certified therapist, EMDR consultant in training, and Usui Reiki Master. I use Mindfulness based, Expressive Arts, IFS- informed methods and body-based healing methods in my trauma- focused work. It's of utmost importance to me that you leave your session feeling seen, heard, and valued for the truly unique and deserving person that you are. You can borrow the compassion I give you while learning to give yourself some grace and compassion of your own. And regardless of which treatment path we choose to embark on together; I'll meet you where you are.

Have you ever felt lost, unsure, ungrounded to your authentic self? I know I have during different periods of my life journey. Through my own experience, as a client and a therapist, I have seen how therapy can help support people with both big and small life challenges. Life can be hard, and I strive to provide a safe space for people to explore their vulnerabilities, because the strength to overcome challenges is closer than you think. I have primarily been working with young adults over the past 15 years in a variety of settings. I enjoy working with clients who are going through life transitions because “adulting” is hard. I often work with clients who want support navigating relationships, setting & keeping boundaries and practicing self-compassion. I also love working with people in recovery. Now that you have done the hard work getting sober, maintaining recovery can often bring unforeseen challenges that deserve equal amounts of support and attention as your sobriety does. I love working with highly motivated clients, ready to start or continue their path to feeling better. I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey of life.

If you are finding yourself in need of therapy then chances are searching for a new therapist may be feeling a bit daunting right now. Whether you are going through a significant life situation or if your distress seems to have caught you by surprise, I thought it would be helpful to share some highly likely topics of exploration that can be expected during our work together as a means to seeing the change you want to see - no matter what your desires for therapy may be: self-compassion; core emotions; boundaries; core beliefs about yourself; autonomy; vulnerability; self-worth; healthy relationships of all types; strengths. View 6 Photos I have extensive experience working with individuals impacted by trauma related to intimate partner violence and sexual assault as well as from abuse and neglect. The core of my work uses feminist theory to explore how systems of oppression as well as socialization impact our emotional health and explore how one can move toward empowerment and autonomy. In Session was created with the hope that a serene space can allow you to find respite from your busy world long enough to slow down and put yourself first. I strive to always be genuine, empathetic and warm so that you may feel safe, accepted and open as you navigate the pains and joys that occur throughout therapy. I hope to connect with you soon.
