I often find myself meeting with clients who are struggling with feelings and behaviors that have come to the surface without them knowing why. I see this a lot in my work with adolescents, adults and couples. For many, life has become more complicated than they expected it would and no one should have to navigate that complexity alone. I believe in the relationship between the client and therapist and have witnessed it lead to growth and change. If you are looking to try therapy, please pursue it. My hope is that you would experience the real, meaningful change that therapy can provide us all.

Problems enter our lives and we do the best we can to manage and cope. Sometimes, it is useful to have someone to help navigate these struggles. That is how I view my role. It is important to me to provide a space where clients receive unconditional positive regard and where we work together as a collaborative team. I practice evidenced based psychology which is effective in relieving a variety of problems. My two main areas of focus are gender health as well as treating OCD/Phobias and related disorders. I work to incorporate techniques that make sense to the client and are effective in bringing relief. I have extensive training and experience working with issues related to gender health. As an affirming therapist, it is imperative to me to offer a supportive and non-judgmental space for clients to explore and meet their individualized goals. I provide surgery letters and assistance connecting clients with affirming services in the community. My practice is 2SLGBTQIA+ welcoming. I offer individual, couples, and family therapy. I also offer supervision for LPC candidates, as well as consultation to other professionals. Contact me to set up an intake session to see if I am a good fit for you.

For some, it is not an easy decision to start counseling, but the therapy process can lead to unimaginable improvement. I do counseling with children, teens, and adults for a wide range of issues. I also enjoy marital therapy and family therapy. It's my goal to help you grow and heal though the challenges caused by mental illness or life's challenging circumstances. Working together we can see change and hope! I know it's important to get help or support when you're looking for it. So if you call and you don't get to talk to someone... we do call back, usually same day or next business day. I have a background in clinical psychotherapy in hospital in-patient crisis stabilization, and acute diagnostic settings and out-patient clinical counseling settings. I am also a Christian counselor and to your comfort level and preference I enjoy doing Christian counseling. In a Christian counseling session it's my goal to know you and using the truths of the Word of God as well as therapeutic techniques that fit your personality and situation.

One of my favorite quotes is “Not all those who wander are lost” -J.R.R. Tolkien. Life can sometimes feel aimless, and we may feel like we are lost in a huge forest of difficulty. Difficulty could look like anxiety, depression, burnout, or problems with relationships. Sometimes having a person to help navigate through life’s problems can create direction. If you feel lost or aimless look no further! Together we will explore the forests of life and find new trails to take. I endeavor to listen empathetically and create a judgement free zone for all. I believe that each trail taken is unique and is an opportunity for growth and learning. I am excited to work with diverse populations of all ages. I specialize in treating individuals of all ages with a variety of evidence-based treatments. My area of interest includes anxiety, depression, OCD, adjustment disorders, stress, and interpersonal relationships. I hope to create safety by emphasizing importance of the client-therapist relationship and treating others with dignity, grace, and genuiness. I am passionate that through learning about ourselves and our differences we can move forward on the path taken. I would be honored to walk alongside you on your own healing journey.

My name is Mary Stinson and I am the owner and operator of Sage Counseling Center. I serve teenagers, adults, individuals & families in the journey toward healing. I have been blessed with the honor of helping people challenge and overcome life's hardships, and I am continually inspired by the resilience of the human spirit when we are given the tools we need to be over-comers. My specialty is in the field of trauma recovery and I have extensive training and experience in resolving trauma symptoms. View 21 Photos I offer non-pathologizing and strength-affirming approaches to problem-solving with a compassionate, grounded, and direct approach. I am devoted to helping educate and liberate people from repeating the same painful patterns. Using the latest brain research, I describe the neurochemical processes that drive our feelings, impulses, and behaviors. We tend to make the worst decisions when we’re under the most stress. This cycle can repeat itself over the course of a lifetime. We don’t have to cling to a mistake just because we spent a lot of time making it. You can lead a life worth living when given the right support at the right time. You're worth it!

My mission is to walk alongside individuals, couples, families, adults, and adolescents during any of the challenges life is throwing at them, not matter how big or small, while honoring foundational Christian truths of scripture. My goal for each person who walks through our doors is to experience the compassionate care available in an environment that promotes safety and healing.
