"We all have our stuff." I heard a wise woman say this years ago. We might feel overwhelmed by all the expectations of life - of adulthood. We might be carrying the weight of something terrible that has happened in our lives. We might feel deeply alone - even when we are around other people. Maybe we feel out of control or lacking discipline, struggling to break habits that we know are bad for us. Whatever the case may be, you are not alone. Lots of people come to therapy. Lots of people feel much better after trying it. I provide a comfortable space for you to talk through your "stuff," and help you understand yourself better. My style of therapy includes a great deal of emotional validation, support and building off of your personal strengths. I specialize in helping people shift their perspectives, build their self-esteem and create healthy connections with others. I hope to meet you one day. You deserve so much healing, genuine connection and care. Reach out to me to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if I would be a good fit as your new therapist.

Trauma comes in many shapes and forms. A deeply distressing and disturbing experience in your life can have many negative effects such as feeling numb or like you’re just “going through the motions,” deep depression and sadness, or feeling “broken.” But you are not alone in feeling this way. I understand the power of trauma and how it can destroy you, overtaking your mind and your body. It’s a wound that changes a person. Especially if you don’t let it out. It finds unhealthy ways. The trauma can overpower you and take control. But you can become "unbroken." I practice Basic EMDR, SOMATIC therapy, animal therapy, CBT, mindfulness, and a person-centered approach. You will be provided with significant tools and exercises and education in PTSD, trauma and how it affects the brain and body, anxiety and depression. You can grow and be transformed. Your story is a gift that I will honor. Safety and confidentiality are sacred to me. I’m a down to earth therapist that will listen to you without judgment, and together we will find your healing path. You may never be who you once were before the trauma, but by sharing your story and learning tools to decrease the disturbing memories and pain, you can heal.

Do want to want to live authentically with yourself and others? Has something happened that makes you question your core beliefs and values? My primary goal is to understand you as to want to be understood - without rigid diagnoses or other labels. We will work together to fully understand who you have been, who you are in the present, and who you aspire to be. We will also consider how your current beliefs may be based on long-held assumptions and are no longer your own. Ultimately, good therapy will free up your capacity to consider new choices that are more closely aligned with your own values and goals. I am a humanistic existential therapist. I work with adults (ages 18 and above) who are confronted with many types of issues and concerns. These include life transitions (grief, life-threatening health diagnoses, career, retirement), identity (gender, sexuality), relationship discord (family, intimate partners), and trauma (complex and chronic). I believe in reducing the stigma attached to going to therapy. We can build a space where you feel supported. The impacts of climate change, the pandemic, and a multitude of other stressors leads to compassion fatigue - both for others and ourselves. Please reach out for a free 15-20 minute consultation to explore your decision to start psychotherapy.

I provide individual and relationship therapy, that focuses on solutions to issues like overwhelming emotions, conflict with others, or stressful events. I believe that in life, generally every person has the ability to navigate through life's challenges on their own. Though when stressed for prolonged periods of time, or sometimes even if you experience just one traumatic or overwhelming event, it can be helpful to work through these issues with the guidance of a therapist. Therapy is a place to build up your resiliency and effectiveness. During sessions I offer support through conversation, asking questions and activities to help you accomplish your goals around your mental health and relationships. Through the therapy process you'll likely experience positive changes in areas like your thoughts or insights, actions, feelings, or the quality of your relationships over time. Therapy is based in a relationship of trust, safety, and respect between myself and the individual or relationship that I am serving. Please note I have extensive training and experience in Collaborative Problem Solving to address youth exhibiting defiance or aggression, if participating in family therapy.

Life can be a lot: noisy, demanding, overwhelming, sometimes downright impossible. We each need a space where we’re not expected to hold it all together or live up to other people’s expectations. In that calm, quiet place, we can learn to listen to ourselves more closely, to find out who we are and how to get closer to the life we want. Having a skilled, patient collaborator in that space can be crucial, especially if you’ve been struggling to get clear on what’s not working in your life or what needs to change. My goal is to provide nonjudgmental, open-minded support in your process of figuring out what’s right for you—with work, friends, partners, family, and, maybe most importantly, your relationship with yourself. I specialize in supporting folks navigating marginalized identities, who have historically found it difficult to see themselves reflected in the society around them. Learning to recognize who we are and what’s important to us, beyond who we’ve been told we should be (or are failing to be), might be the most powerful and subversive work any of us can do.

Are you a young person having difficulty finding direction and motivation in life? Are you an adult who has yet to figure out who you are or what you want to be when you grow up? As much as possible, I will try to include an awareness of our somatic experiences–the sensations we experience in our bodies in the present moment–in our work together. I firmly believe that healing and positive change can be achieved by doing this kind of "bodywork" together. If you have never seen a counselor, or if you have but were unsatisfied with traditional talk therapy, I encourage you to reach out.

Please leave the name of your insurance when you contact me so I can best serve you. Adults, children, adolescents, and their families are welcomed in my private practice, and playroom for the children. My specialty for over 25 years has been working with children, adolescents, and their families. After becoming a Level II EMDR trauma therapist in the past 20 years, I have worked with many adults challenged by difficulties. Both my adult and child clients are often faced with depression, anxiety, and grief commonly created by divorce, death, adoption, abuse, and feelings of hopelessness, anger, and poor self-esteem. I enjoy offering new clients a first free half hour consultation. I offer evening appts plus daytime hours, and children's groups. EMDR is very helpful with trauma or other difficulties. EMDR, Energy Psychology, DBT which incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Mindfulness, and Play Therapy for children all tend to relieve anxiety & depression. The majority of my clients are suffering with anxiety and depression due to a variety of challenges or trauma in their lives. The boys and girls ages 2 -12 that I work with in Play Therapy are typically bright and sensitive and more apt to be anxious by nature. My overall approach is supportive, nurturing, and compassionate to create a safe environment.

The most common concerns seen in my office include anxiety, depression, and PTSD. After an assessment of symptoms and brain wave patterns, I work to help clients retrain their nervous system and develop psychological flexibility using ketamine assisted therapy, meditation practices, and technology-based interventions such as neurofeedback, stroboscopic light, and vibroacoustic therapies. View 7 Photos I have trained extensively in both ancient and modern healing practices including Counseling Psychology, Neurotherapy, Qigong, Psychedelic Integration Therapy & Meditation. I have also completed training in various methods of energy healing. My goal is to provide a personalized, trauma-informed, mind-body-spirit approach to healing. My approach is based on the notion that most mental health concerns are the result of a nervous system that has become stuck in an unhelpful pattern. The strategies I use emphasize the importance of increasing flexibility and adaptability of the nervous system. Through this process it is often possible to take positive steps toward achieving your goals.
