Falling in love is addictive. It is your brain on cocaine. Until, it isn't. At first, you couldn't picture months of arguing. Even an affair, broken trust. Perhaps you never imagined hiding away, secretly texting a colleague - s/he listens to you. Perhaps you just want the miscommunication and storming out of the room to end. Relationship counseling. You want to better communicate. You want to be seen. You want the dry spell to end. The immense irritation you feel when you start bickering, you want to learn to head it off before it starts. There are skills to be learned, truths to be told. Many things can divert a once happy relationship. Talking to a therapist can help. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have been in couples counseling myself. This is why I am passionate about working with couples: I know it works. Call me, I offer free phone consultations.

Your willingness to seek help is a courageous step towards healing & change. I believe in the transformative power of a therapeutic relationship and view it as our combined effort. I use LGBTQIA+ affirming, social justice-oriented, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches to foster a safe, consistent and curious environment that supports your wisdom while guiding your pursuit of valued and meaningful living. Our partnership will include my extensive education & advanced training working with individuals who have been adversely impacted by relational and attachment disruptions, abuse/neglect and complex traumatic experiences. We will explore ways in which your painful experiences and unresolved feelings discourage you from creating the fulfilling life you desire. We will enhance your ability to be present with your thoughts and feelings to increase your understanding of how these internal events keep you stuck in habitual behaviors and responses that might no longer serve you. While I draw from a number of modalities, including attachment, neuroscience, existential-humanistic, psychodynamic, and solution-focused, I focus on mindfulness and acceptance-informed therapy, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This is an evidence based approach to the problem of suffering, and the pursuit of values and meaningful life.

Becoming a parent is life-changing in many ways. Some we can prepare for, but many we cannot. I have a special interest in working with mothers struggling with anxiety or depression related to pregnancy, adjustment to becoming a parent, traumatic birth experience, infant or child hospitalization, or having difficulty with breast or bottle feeding. I also have a passion for helping youth who have experienced trauma and can help decrease symptoms of depression, anxiety, behavior problems, sexualized behaviors, and trauma-related shame, while improving social competence and trust. I am trained in CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, DBT and Mindfulness. I offer evidence-based therapies for individuals and couples. For individuals, I use CBT to modify negative thought patterns and behaviors, and DBT tools enhance emotional regulation and well-being. For couples, I employ the Gottman Method to strengthen bonds, resolve conflicts, and improve communication, trust, and intimacy. Asking for help can be overwhelming, and I thank you for allowing me to introduce myself. I offer early morning and evening appointments, and am available in person or over Telehealth to accommodate busy schedules. I look forward to working with you and your family.

English  |  español So much of life is learning to deal with the cards we’ve been given. I love seeing people not only deal with the cards they’ve been given, but turn them into amazing card castles. I want to help those that seek to get unstuck grow toward their best selves, have great relationships and enjoy lives filled with joy. I like to use well-researched therapeutic techniques that have been proven to help people grow. In couples therapy that means drawing from the research of John Gottman. In family and individual therapy that means an integrative approach - utilizing practical therapeutic tools that help clients achieve their goals. I am great at helping people find their way out of stuck places. For individuals that means encouraging and equipping you to address whatever hurdles you face. I help couples find their way back to one another utilizing the Gottman approach. And I lead "The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work," workshop by John Gottman. Life can get really hard and I've been there. Let me help you overcome whatever challenge you're facing right now. Please call or message me and let's gets started!

The main focus of my practice is completing evaluations to clarify diagnostic questions and cognitive and psychological strengths and challenges. I also provide short follow-up treatment sessions to put recommendations in place. I help clients explore issues in depth and understand deep-seeded struggles or patterns while providing treatment recommendations, practical tools and strategies that make improvements to their lives in the here-and-now. My approach to counseling is to create a safe space for you and your family to build hope. We will work to raise awareness around the emotions that so often drive our behaviors. As emotional awareness increases we can choose different responses. Rather than the instantaneous reactions that plague many of us, we will be able to respond intentionally and thoughtfully. As we come to understand the emotional basis of our reactions, and choose to change our responses, we can break negative patterns of behavior with our partners, family, children, colleagues, and other people in our lives. For couples, I'll untangle the twists and turns of the intimate dance couples do. With individuals, I will meet them at their point of pain and build hope for a different future. With families, we will work together to build consensus, tolerance and a shared vision for the future. And with kids, I'll use play therapy to build self-esteem and self-control. I chose this path after spending 17 years in sales. My sales experience taught me the value of building and sustaining relationships. Now I have specialized training in Child-Centered Play Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, Child-Parent Relationship Training, Jungian Archetypes, CBT and Existentialism that I can tailor to your needs.

I specialize in perinatal mental health which means I work with women who are trying to conceive, are pregnant, have experienced infertility, miscarriage or infant loss, and those new to parenthood. In our work we will talk about the highs and lows of the perinatal period. You will get to say out loud, the things so many women are thinking and feeling but so few are saying. My favorite conversations are the ones that start with, "I don't know if this makes me a bad person but..." I'm going to help you feel So Normal about the experiences you currently feel guilt, shame and uncertainty around. And we'll find your path forward. I've worked solely in the perinatal field for nearly a decade and am confident in your ability to feel more like yourself again, no matter the road you are on. Here you will find humor, irreverence, honesty and a place to bring your darkest experiences without fear of judgment or rejection. I get it. English  |  español Do you ever ask yourself questions like these? How can I stop feeling so overwhelmed by my thoughts and feelings? Why am I often triggered by what others say or do? Why do I keep setting myself up for failure when I have all it takes to succeed? Or, what would it be like to have some peace of mind? If you are interested in getting to the bottom of these questions, psychodynamic therapy might be the right treatment for you. I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in providing psychodynamic treatment for a wide range of problems. I have over 30 years of experience in the field of mental health. I offer a safe form of psychotherapy that is designed to alleviate mental distress as well as foster long lasting changes. Real change takes place when you engage in a process that allows you to explore and understand the roots of your problem. How we think, feel and behave is frequently related to how we were parented and our early childhood environment. Getting in touch with your feelings and understanding your behaviors leads to less distress and a greater ability to make good choices in life. In therapy I will not tell you what to do. Instead, I will help you become more in touch with your needs and wishes so that you can decide what is the best course of action for you and your unique circumstances.

COVID-19 - You are not alone. Feelings of isolation may be intensified. Rather than being an obstacle, our bodies and our sensual nature can be integral to personal and spiritual liberation. My work is grounded, respectful and authentic. In confidential, online sessions, men gain mastery of how to generate, contain and transform sexual energy and cultivate deep presence. Women remember how to heal and reclaim their sexual power and become radiant in their ability to be love. Profound levels of respect and joy emerge within couples. As a result, we learn to relax deeply and access our life potential in a profound and powerful way. I am passionate about supporting men and women of all ages, all orientations, alone or partnered, towards creating new and practical maps towards a vibrant and nourishing erotic connection with themselves and the world I provide a bridge between more esoteric 'tantric' teachings and western psychotherapeutic and somatic practices that are congruent with personal values. Sessions contain a combination of teaching, counseling and experiential practices.

Are you looking to increase connection, joy, positive moods, and strengthen healthy relationship with yourself and others? I specialize in a Mindfulness and Somatic/body based modality called Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS allows us to gently and safely reprocess old wounds, work on what is most important right now in your life, and help you return to your core natural state of connection, purpose and authenticity. It is deeper than traditional 'talk therapy', as it gets to the root of trauma and attachment wounding, often based in childhood difficulties that result in patterns of anxiety, depression, grief, and dissociation. I hold a certificate in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy, and offer support in integrating psychedelic work, from a HARM reduction approach, to folks already on that healing path. I am also licensed in Oregon to facilitate Psilocybin sessions. While this seperate from my counseling offerings, it can be a beautiful and deep addition to your healing journey. I hold online counseling space for adult individuals and couples. Please email or call for a free phone consultation. With 20 years experience in mental wellness, I meet you exactly where you are, with absolute non-judgmental acceptance and a strong sense of ease, warmth, trust, and respect. I offer sliding scale $120-$190/session and bill OHP/Pacificsource.

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I approach therapy with the general goal of helping you better understand yourself, what matters to you, and how you exist in the world. Based on what you want to accomplish, together we can continue developing your true self so you can lead a more fulfilling and meaningful life. This process often involves a combination of making sense of earlier experiences, working with ongoing patterns, and re-evaluating future expectations or assumptions. By applying contemporary relational therapy approaches and techniques, we will focus on issues and perceptions that may be holding you back. You can expect me to take the time to get to know you, and provide helpful feedback that you can apply to yourself and others in everyday interactions. We will also look at thoughts, feelings, and reactions that arise in therapy in order to work directly in the present moment. Whether you are looking for extra support during a challenging situation, or you simply want to change directions in your life, I look forward to us working collaboratively.

If you are struggling with relationships in your life, maybe with your intimate partner/spouse or family members, or perhaps at work, you might feel the need to talk with someone. I am a psychotherapist practicing in Oregon and Washington, and in Europe. I enjoy assisting people in the exploration of new ways to manage challenges that invariably arise in life. If you struggle with anxiety or depression, or if you are experiencing activation related to past traumatic events I can help you learn new ways of relating to yourself and to others. I am well versed in practicing EMDR and supplement this with Emotional Freedom Technique. Both helpful to process emotions. I have experience working with college athletes and am athletically minded. Again with a focus on mind and body and how emotions affect our decisions. I utilize mindfulness practices to develop contentedness in relationships. I have training in helping couples through challenging times and invite people who have entered into bi-cultural unions. I am fluent in English and Danish.
