Are you concerned about your child, but not sure how to help them? Are you worried they may not open up in traditional talk therapy? As an art therapist, I may be able to help. I specialize in working with school-aged children and their families, and believe parents and caregivers play a pivotal role in their child’s healing. I work to help kids understand their challenges and feelings, as well as develop strategies to overcome and cope with them. I also offer parent sessions to help you best support your child and help them practice the skills they learn in session. Sometimes it can be hard to find the words for our experiences, and it can feel scary to open up. Art therapy offers a way to communicate non-verbally, which helps kids to feel safe to explore their feelings and inner worlds. It is difficult to witness your child struggling, and it can be tough to know which road to take when seeking out a therapist. I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation to discuss your concerns and see if I would be a good fit for what your child needs. Reach out and start your family’s path to healing.

Erika has an extensive range of clinical experience with clients of all ages in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry settings. She has spent the last five years focusing and deepening her clinical understanding of the specific needs of children and adolescents. While studying in Grad school, combining her love of art and psychology, she quickly understood the powerful & positive impact Art Therapy has on those struggling with life stressors and mental illness. Erika believes that art has the inherent ability to heal and that everyone has potential for change and can achieve emotional well-being using art making and creativity. I work to develop strong therapeutic relationships with clients of any age. The safe and creative environment I create helps my clients openly express themselves. The relationship I create with young people through art, play, sand-tray, and conversation helps them to gain self-awareness, increase self-esteem, and improve their self sense of well-being.

Feeling stuck with your kiddo or teen? Feeling like they may need someone to talk to, but worried they may not open up? As an art therapist and licensed professional counselor, I may be able to help. As a board certified art therapist, I provide each client with the ability to express their thoughts, feelings, fears, and obstacles through the creative process. My clients' comfort and safety is my priority, and I strive to provide a consistent and nonjudgmental space in which clients of all ages can realize their full potential. I specialize in working with young children. In this work, I find that verbal communication is not always preferred and/or comfortable. By introducing art and play into the therapy session, I offer opportunities for children to communicate nonverbally, and in a way that makes them feel most safe to express their feelings. Reach out so that we can speak further about your or your child's needs. I look forward to the opportunity to be apart of your healing journey.
