Have you "disappeared" in order to be in a relationship? Do you feel "selfish" considering your own needs and wants? Would you like to stand up for yourself AND still be in relationship? Is the phrase, "I matter, too," one you want to believe? If so, the time has come to create effective ways to move into relationship with Self and Others. The truth is that each of us matters equally. When we live from a place of mutual importance, we honor boundaries, make decisions for ourselves, and are responsible for the only person we can truly manage, our self. We all need and deserve support. It can be hard to ask for help when feelings of inadequacy, shame, or fear of rejection surface. I have felt those things, too, and believe that, like teachers, they show up when we ache for something to be different. Are you ready? I use family systems concepts to illuminate and improve relational patterns. When an individual, family or couple understands how to manage one's self and communicate effectively, they can reduce reactivity and anxiety and take clear stands. Please call to set up a 15 minute complimentary consultation because you matter, too.

If you’re a parent of an adolescent struggling with mental health, know that you don’t have to manage these struggles alone. Feeling helpless about not knowing another way to deal with your child’s presenting problems is difficult. But I'm here to tell you that there is no “wrong” way to parent your child with mental health challenges. I can help both you and your beloved adolescent connect, build resiliency, and manage developmental challenges. We’ll work on communication and improving interactions between you and your child, and I will support you in making informed decisions about your adolescent’s mental health. Chances are that your teenager feels that you don’t understand them. They might feel as if something is wrong with them or that they don’t belong. It’s important to me that you and your family are involved in your child’s treatment. I provide structural family therapy, trauma-focused CBT, and solution-focused and person-centered therapy. My ability to connect with adolescents, young women, and their families is what sets me apart from other providers. I value authenticity, compassion, honesty, kindness, and respect. The therapeutic relationship is the most important part of a successful therapy experience. I’ll be here to make you and your child feel seen, listened to, and understood.

I offer mental health and educational related services from primary grades up to post-secondary grades and into adulthood. Given my background in School Psychology and Clinical Psychology, I try to help provide an understanding of how both of these areas can impact clients, such as how mental health can impact the process of learning. Understanding how to respond to difficult situations, such as the process of learning and/or how to respond to emotional pain can be challenging. Therefore, these areas can be addressed in a problem-solving and empathetic manner.

I believe that the ability to calm down and solve problems are two of the most crucial skills for success in life! Over the past thirty plus years I have had the honor of having many people from many different backgrounds share their stories of life's victories, challenges, and pain with me. Most individuals have both obvious and hidden strengths that can be called up to help them to move past obstacles. I feel skilled about being able to create the emotional safety for people to truly discover and tap in to their own resources. As clients then learn and become empowered with strong, coping skills, exciting postive changes happen! I draw from cognitive therapy and positive psychology techniques and blend them with mindfulness and empathy. I do this in an encouraging and accepting manner to provide high quality counseling tools to help my clients to make concrete, positive changes. I have strong appreciation for my ability to be genuine and empathetic. While maintaining a "learner's heart", my extensive counseling and coaching experience provide me with a deep foundation of knowledge to be confident in helping others. I really enjoy my work!

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I aspire to counsel clients collaboratively towards their individualized goals using a solution focused approach. I have been working in the field since 2005 and have experience providing individual, family, and couples counseling. I enjoy working with all ages. I currently offer individual supervision for counselors working towards their LPC licensure. Supervisees will be accepted on a case by case basis. If there is enough interest, a supervision group may be formed. I specialize in working with clients that suffer with a variety of symptoms (family issues, parenting, couples issues, life transitions, interpersonal conflict, mental health, substance abuse, personal growth, relationship issues). My desire in counseling is to promote a safe haven where clients are heard and respected. I will provide support, encourage self development, and respect each client.

As an Addiction Social Worker, I specialize in empowering individuals to recover from addictive behaviors via support and counseling. With an extensive working knowledge of diverse recovery approaches, including family recovery, I feel privileged to help individuals with addiction and their families create change and enjoy productive, meaningful lives. As research shows, addicted individuals often struggle with additional challenges, such as trauma, grief, and mental health disorders and I recognize that quality treatment must be comprehensive to include treatment of these issues. View 4 Photos In addition to treating substance use disorders, I treat a vast array of conditions in an eclectic therapeutic style, using cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, motivational interviewing, as well as principles from solution-focused therapy. I provide comprehensive client assessments and clinical supervision to other professionals in the therapy field. I also have extensive experience working with professionals and executives, understanding their specific needs. After working in the helping profession since 2004, I hold a Master of Social Work degree and a Clinical Social Work License in Pennsylvania. Also, I have a certification as an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
