My purpose and passion is working with children and their families. I approach counseling from a child-centered, mindful, and play-based approach. My belief is that we learn best when we are having fun, when people are curious about our worldviews, and when we are presented with developmentally appropriate treatments and strategies. Central to my approach is that we are all given challenges in life as a way to grow and develop into our best selves. Many of us are doing the best we can with what we know. Counseling can help us all do better. View 4 Photos Intentionally looking for the potential in the perceived problem and the possibilities for growth and change, I utilize techniques and interventions from my extensive training in Play Therapy, Filial Play Therapy, Animal Assisted Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Emotional Freedom Techniques and/or Social Thinking to meet treatment goals. Unique to my practice is two Animal Assisted Play Therapy dogs: Baxter and Sarah. As co-therapists, they bring a loving, welcoming, and comforting presence to the counseling process. Research has shown that the presence of an animal in counseling can lower anxiety and motivate participation. Ruff to that!

I am experienced in counseling people for many mental health conditions, including my specialties of anxiety, relationship issues, grief and loss, stress, life adjustments, adapting to college, or just finding your way in life as a young adult regardless of your career plans. In May 2022, I received my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lock Haven University. I became a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a rigorous, examination-based professional certification showing that I've demonstrated an ongoing commitment to the field of counseling. View 5 Photos I am experienced in working with children and teens, college students, and young adults who experience anxiety, depression, ADHD, and autism symptoms. My formal training includes the cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach, but I also incorporate Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Mindfulness-based modalities to help you reach your goals. My early life experience learning to manage overwhelming anxiety enables me to empathize with people living with anxiety. I will walk alongside you and teach you what I have learned. I aim to use my training, education, and early life experiences to help you become your best self. I hope you take a chance on therapy, too.
