I have a passion for connecting with my clients on an interpersonal level. My counseling philosophy is that therapy should first and foremost be a safe space for you to express any of your emotions and experiences. I pride myself in being a non-judgmental and receptive counselor. I practice a relaxed therapy style that focuses on processing and emotion identification with a trauma-informed approach. I also include CBT and DBT skills where appropriate. I enjoy adding non-verbal approaches to processing, including the use of play, art, and creative expression. I received my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University, and my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Board Certified Counselor. I am certified in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT). I offer supervision for pre-licensed professionals. My expertise is in supporting children, adolescents, and transition-age young adults with stress, grief and loss, major adjustments and transitions, and anxiety and mood disorders. However, I serve potential clients of all genders and diverse backgrounds. If you think we may be a good fit, contact Congruence Counseling to set up a brief consultation call!

Accepting new clients! You're tired of feeling like your experiences are minimized and being told you're "using it as an excuse." You're mentally and physically exhausted from always feeling "other". You want to FINALLY be able to open up and talk about ALL of the pieces of your life because you can't continue carrying all of this shit around, but you're terrified of being judged. You know you engage in unhealthy patterns of behavior and self-talk, but you just can't seem to stop. You have "checked off the box" that you're "in therapy" in the past, but you need to do something different this time. I'm a LGBTQIA and relationship (i.e. CNM) affirming therapist. I find that clients that I can be real with are clients that I tend to build the best therapeutic relationship with. I'm going to REALLY show up in that room, and my hope is that it makes you more comfortable doing the same. Nothing will shock me, or make me judge you. Not here. Not with me. My personal experiences have given me unique insight into complicated, multi-layered issues that are not easily understood. I can bring those into the room, with permission, if that's helpful to you. But at the end of the day, this is your experience. This is your story. These are YOUR struggles. And you are still the expert in that. Let's get started!

*Accepting new clients* Being able to connect with a therapist is hard--really hard. Especially if you are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Am I right? Feeling "other" has become so normal that we often don't even realize we are merely surviving because we don't know there's another way to exist. Stress, shame, and all of the other emotions swirling around create a tornado that is hard to get out of. That's where I come in. I'm a LGBTQIA+, relationship (i.e. CNM), and culturally affirming therapist with lived experience as a queer woman with a trans partner, as well as assisted reproduction and gender-expansive parenting. I help clients take back the pen to figuratively (and sometimes literally!) re-create a life story that is authentic and intentional. I believe that it's important to consider how contextual (socioeconomic, political, cultural) factors and intersectional identities play a role in your life and the things you are struggling with. I have an eclectic approach to therapy that often doesn’t feel like “therapy” at all. I will laugh with you, cry with you, curse with you--no judgement and no BS, ever. Healing is a messy, painful, beautiful process--and I honor the strength it takes to start. Let's do this!

You are feeling misunderstood and overwhelmed. You feel "other". And our current social and political climate is exacerbating it. You feel like no one gets it. You have such a hard time trusting people, so the idea of taking the first step to start therapy is terrifying. You don't feel like yourself anymore--and sometimes you wonder what that even means. You feel shame. You feel like you simply "don't have time for therapy", but also know you can't continue like you have been. You want to feel more grounded, balanced, and resilient. But you have no idea how to get there. As Black American, my personal and professional experiences allow me to have insight and empathy into life's multi-layered complexities that require deeper understanding. I provide a healing space that is welcoming to those who hold multiple marginalized identities. I use a culture-centered lens and specialize in race-based trauma. I'm a LGBTQIA+, relationship minority, and culturally affirming therapist. I welcome you into my space without judgement. Here's the thing--people tend to get better faster when they feel comfortable, and that's where the real work gets done. Reach out so we can see if we may be a good fit!

Accepting new clients! Between what society and those around you say, you constantly feel like you are not enough. You are feeling lost in the world and so badly want to feel grounded for once, but have no idea where to start or where it's even safe to begin navigating that. What you are experiencing is so multi-layered that it leaves you feeling stuck. My passion is helping other people to truly find themselves by unraveling layers of trauma, societal expectations, and negativity imposed by others. I want to help you figure out how to be truly, wholly yourself and live a life that encompasses your values and beliefs. I am a LGBTQIA+ and relationship (i.e. CNM) affirming therapist. I believe identity is a fluid concept that corresponds to a person's values, which may shift over time. As a therapist, I want to help you cherish ALL parts of yourself and learn how to integrate all of those parts into your self-concept. I aim to help you see your inherent worth and focus on your strengths, not your perceived "shortcomings". I want to connect with you on a deep level, walking beside you as you experience both the devastation and immense beauty of being human. Let's get started, together.

Congruence Counseling, LLC was born from the belief that one cannot truly find happiness and contentment in life until the person reflected to the outside world is congruent, or in agreement, with the person on the inside. Congruence applies to children and teens, individuals, families, and organizations; any group or person seeking to elevate their efficacy, success, and happiness in life. We are a small private practice located in Wexford, Pennsylvania, specializing in the treatment of anxiety, depression, mood disorders, behavioral concerns, and life transitions. I've earned a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC), a board certified counselor (NCC), a Certified Perinatal Mental Health provider (PMH-C), and certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Many believe they are destined to be unhappy. People often fruitlessly try to be the person they think they are expected to be, ignoring the person inside. When you find congruence, happiness and contentment follow. Contact me for your free initial consultation, and I can help you find your congruence.

It is a courageous act to trust others with our innermost cognitive and emotional experiences: our pain, our worries, our anger, even our hopes and aspirations. Pause for a moment to recognize yourself for considering this step in your journey. I believe in empowering individuals through a collaborative therapeutic approach, and will work with you to determine what works for you. At baseline, I implement a healthy striving framework which highlights a belief that even our most troubling thoughts and behaviors stem from healthy desires to achieve a lasting sense of balance, belonging, or safety. Clients of all ages and walks of life are welcome in my practice, though I specialize in teen and young adult populations (14 - 30). If you would like to schedule a session, or chat to see if we’re a good fit, please reach out however you feel most comfortable. Please note, I have office locations in both Wexford and Upper St. Clair.
